ASSISTANT SCIENCE OFFICER (GRADE C5) Centre for Foundation Studies – International Islamic University Malaysia

Qualifications
  • Diploma in Science or any relevant field recognized by the Government from any local institution of higher learning.
  • Previous experience in an educational or teaching laboratory environment.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory instruments (e.g., spectrophotometers, pH meters, analytical balances).
  • Knowledge of chemical inventory and laboratory management systems is an advantage.
  • Attention to detail in preparing and handling chemicals and equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Well-organized and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Effective communication skills, especially when assisting students and academic staff.
  • Punctual and dependable, with a proactive attitude toward daily responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn new lab techniques and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Team-oriented, with a cooperative and supportive approach to working with staff and students.
  • Problem-solving mindset, able to identify and report technical issues promptly.
  • Professional and ethical conduct, especially when handling student work or assessments.
Language Qualification
  • All candidates must have obtained Credits (at least C) for Bahasa Malaysia and English (including oral examination) in Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent qualification recognised by the Government.
Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemicals, reagents, and apparatus for teaching laboratory sessions.
  • Set up and dismantle practical experiments before and after classes.
  • Support lecturers and students during lab sessions by providing technical assistance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the lab space and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of laboratory materials and ensure safe storage and labeling.
  • Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety protocols and waste disposal procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
