ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (DS13)
Department of Paediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health, Kulliyyah of Dentistry, International Islamic University Malaysia, Kuantan.
Grade: DS13 Status of Appointment: Contract (Malaysian & International) Basic Salary: Between RM6,210.00 to RM14,370.00 (based on experience).
Scope
The officer shall perform teaching, examining, and research duties, and other obligations required of an academic staff member of IIUM. Duties also include attending IIUM authorities' meetings, participating in community life, mentoring students on moral conduct, and contributing to the overall academic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
- Organise and supervise student participation in community engagement activities.
- Develop educational materials such as brochures, posters, and videos to support teaching.
- Create curricula and course materials for use across multiple platforms.
- Collaborate with other academics to improve teaching methods and expand the knowledge base.
- Set and grade assignments, tests, and exams.
- Conduct research, supervise students, write papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
- Attend and participate in meetings, conferences, and other events within and outside the institution.
- Engage in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
- Provide support to students and colleagues.
- Monitor and provide support to students in both theoretical and clinical settings.
- Stay current by reading widely and publishing work in the field.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years working experience in the field.
- Published work would be advantageous.
- Primary membership with relevant association is not essential, but valuable.
- Ability to inspire students with passion.
- Flexibility, resilience, and willingness to work long hours.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to engage in continuous learning and development, particularly in teaching and research.
- Adherence to high standards of ethical practice and professionalism in clinical and academic settings.
- Ability to manage time effectively, balancing clinical duties, teaching responsibilities, and administrative tasks.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and community members.
Language Qualifications
All candidates must have obtained:
- Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English (including oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level OR equivalent qualification recognized by the government for Malaysian citizens.
- IELTS Band 6 / MUET Band 4. Candidates without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
