Scope

The officer shall be a member of the staff of the Kulliyyah/Centre/Department and perform teaching, examination, research duties and other academic responsibilities required of an IIUM academic staff member. The officer is also expected to undertake moral and religious obligations, attend meetings of IIUM authorities, participate in the community, advise and guide students on character and behaviour, and act as a moral educator.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, workshops, and seminars.
• Developing curricula and course material for various platforms.
• Collaborating with other academics to improve teaching methods and expand knowledge.
• Setting and grading assignments, tests, and exams.
• Conducting research and writing papers, proposals, journal articles, and books.
• Attending and participating in meetings, conferences, and other events.
• Participating in training opportunities and initiatives at the institution.
• Providing support to students and colleagues.
• Staying current by reading widely and publishing work.

Minimum Qualifications

Positions available:

• Position 1: English Language Studies, Linguistics, Applied Linguistics
  • PhD in Linguistics, Applied Linguistics, Language Studies, or a closely related field with specialization in English language.
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Linguistics, Language Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record and experience in teaching and supervision are desirable.
  • Passion for teaching and research is essential.
• Position 2: Communication
  • PhD in Communication/Media Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Applied Communication, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • Strong publication record and experience in teaching and supervision are desirable.
  • Passion for teaching and research is essential.

Language Qualifications

• Credits in Bahasa Malaysia and English Language (oral examination) at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent recognized by the Government (for Malaysian citizens).
• IELTS band 7 / MUET band 6.

Candidate without any of these qualifications will be required to sit for the IIUM English Language Proficiency Test.
