Assistant Manager, Ventures – AEON Pet & Rocky Basecamp
Supporting the manager to monitor store operations, ensuring excellent customer service, and the establishment and maintenance of external relationships with key suppliers and vendors.
- Monitor financial performance; providing insights on areas of improvement and countermeasures.
- Merchandising & Promotion Execution: maintain planograms, price integrity, promo signage, and end‑gondola/feature tables; track sell‑through; flag slow movers; execute markdowns.
- Inventory Control & Procurement Support: coordinate with merchandising on min/max levels, cycle counts, investigate variances; monitor expiries and slow‑moving stocks (pet supplies) and gear condition (climbing); ensure merchandising/operational compliance.
- Operations & Customer Experience: set and enforce SOPs (e.g. opening/closing, cash handling, cleaning); create service standards (e.g. greeting, issue resolution, NPS recovery).
- Sales Growth & Commercial Strategy: support the development and execution of strategies to drive sales; assist in settling and achieving targets, ensuring key performance metrics are tracked and met.
- Marketing & Campaigns: set up and run campaigns (events, competitions, clinics, awareness days, etc.); monitor key performance metrics; liaise with cross‑functional units for approvals and on‑ground logistics.
- Reporting & Admin: promptly update trackers and dashboards; maintain issue and action logs.
- People & Training: support the manager in conducting on‑the‑job training (e.g. service basics, upsell scripts, safety routines); mentor high‑potential operations team members; coordinate periodic refreshers where applicable.
- Other: any additional supplementary support/tasks assigned by the Manager and/or Head of Ventures.
Additional Key Tasks
- Retail & Inventory Management System.
- Basic merchandising and visual standards.
- Digital basics: listing/booking updates, social posting, responding to reviews.
- Safety/welfare routines; incident reporting; equipment/tool maintenance.
- Event operations; vendor/contract coordination.
Job Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Strategy, Marketing, Sport/Leisure Management, Animal Science, or related field. Internal progression is encouraged; completion of internal SOP/safety/welfare modules is recognized.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in multi‑site/store operations, retail floor leadership, or evidence of accurate stock/cash handling, promo execution, and vendor/customer interactions.
- Good To Have: First aid/CPR; basic climbing certification; animal welfare; event execution; content creation experience; exposure to POS/CRM/BI/Analytics tools.
