A leading legal firm is seeking a legal advisor in Klang City, Malaysia. You will be responsible for drafting and reviewing contracts and legal documents, advising on compliance and risk management, and conducting due diligence for acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have a degree in law, at least 5 years of experience in a corporate legal environment, and outstanding communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia. A proactive and articulate individual is preferred.
Ensure legal and contractual documents are effectively drafted, reviewed, interpreted and vetted.
Draft, review and advise on all agreements including but not limited to commercial, construction, procurement, supply, consultancy, finance, sale and purchase of property, and service agreements, guarantees & management agreements/documents.
Provide legal advice on contracts and agreements for risk management purposes.
Review and draft contracts, agreements, letters and ensure they are compliant with statutory / legal requirements.
Review ongoing cases and advise management accordingly.
Liaise with external counsels/solicitors and manage their performance in cases where they represent the Company, locally and abroad to ensure the interest of the Group is protected with minimum legal costs, taking into account commercial and operational requirements.
Review and update monthly status reports for all litigation/arbitration/IR matters.
Discuss and advise legal risks on the appropriate course of action to be taken and ensure that these are taken.
Assist to conduct due diligence processes to investigate potential acquisitions in Malaysia and overseas or for any other matters required.
Provide legal protection and risk management advice to management, especially on contract management, internal policies and procedures.
Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compliance with all statutory or legal requirements.
Keep abreast on all laws and regulatory developments relevant to the Company, to provide timely advice.
Perform any other related tasks assigned by the Head, Group Legal & Contracts/Managing Director/DCEO and Key Management, as and when required.
Liaise with other departments and subsidiaries (within the Group) to ensure all duties are carried out effectively.
Provide and interpret legal information, conduct training and disseminate appropriate legal requirements to Managers, HODs etc, as and when required.
Participate in meetings, discussions and negotiations on legal matters as and when required to discharge duty effectively.
Degree or Master from an accredited institution in Law or equivalent.
CLP or equivalent an advantage.
Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of working experience in legal practice/corporate legal environment/construction related industry.
Experience in relevant legal areas such as corporate, commercial, acquisitions, litigation and conveyancing. Litigation experience is an added advantage.
Good understanding of contractual issues in the construction industry.
Excellent written and verbal communication in both, English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Articulate with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
