The Assistant Finance Manager – Reporting & Controlling (Malaysia) is the country‑level finance owner for SyAqua’s operations (Feed Manufacturing). You’ll lead end‑to‑end financial operations, local statutory reporting, and tax compliance (corporate, VAT/GST, WHT, local licenses) while partnering closely with operations/production, Commercial/Sales, Treasury, and FP&A teams.

The Assistant Finance Manager – Reporting & Controlling (Malaysia) will drive insightful analysis for the monthly Business Review with the CEO and CFO, ensuring the Malaysian business—across all branches—delivers accurate results. As the executor for our local Data Room & Data Warehouse, you’ll gather, validate and upload both historical actuals and forecast/plan data, enabling seamless integration into the Group platforms for strategic decision‑making and due diligence.

Job Responsibilities
1. Day‑to‑Day Financial Operations & Site Support
  • Lead all site‑level finance activities across Feed Operation (AP, AR, payroll interface, inventory & cost accounting).
  • Act as finance business partner to production teams—tracking throughput metrics, cost drivers, and recommending process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Commercial/Sales to reconcile branch‑level revenue data for month‑end close.
  • Ensure strict adherence to SOPs and SyAqua Accounting Policies in every transaction.
2. Financial Reporting & Business Review Analysis
  • Prepare Malaysian GAAP/IFRS balance sheets, income statements, and cash‑flow reports for each entity and consolidated branch.
  • Deliver clear, insightful month‑end variance analysis (vs. budget & PY) for CEO/CFO Business Reviews—highlighting site‑by‑site performance.
  • Incorporate cost and sales drivers into commentaries, recommending action plans for margin optimization.
3. Month‑End Close & Consolidation
  • Manage the Malaysian close calendar: journal entries, account reconciliations company’s ERP system for submission and consolidation at group level
  • Submit consolidated Malaysian pack to Finance Manager on time, with data integrity and full disclosures.
  • Preparation of Financial Statements: Ensuring accurate and timely preparation of key financial reports such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Compliance: Ensuring that all financial reports comply with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
4. Tax Execution & Compliance
  • Oversee preparation and filing of Malaysian corporate income tax, VAT/GST, withholding tax, and local license renewals.
  • Maintain tax calendars, estimates, payments, and coordinate with external advisors on tax audits and government/tax compliance.
5. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
  • Prepare and file statutory financial statements with tax authority and business development department, and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensure to comply with company accounting policy and SOP.
  • Lead and work with external audit to complete Statutory report within timelines.
6. Cost Management & Internal Controls
  • Lead cost‑control initiatives across sites—identifying efficiency gains in feed, labor, utilities, and overheads.
  • Design, monitor, and improve internal controls to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and uphold reporting integrity.
7. Treasury & Working‑Capital Partnership
  • Work with Treasury on cash‑flow forecasting and liquidity management for Malaysia operations.
  • Optimize working capital by collaborating on AR, AP, and inventory management.
  • Support funding needs for site expansions and capex projects.
8. Data Room & Data Warehouse Execution
  • Data Room: Gather, validate, and upload Malaysia P&Ls, branch forecasts, audit reports, and Board packs into the secure Group Data Room.
  • Data Warehouse: Extract, cleanse, and structure historical actuals and forecast/plan datasets (volume, price, cost drivers) from ERP and FP&A models into the Finance & Non‑Finance Data Warehouse—applying metadata and version controls.
9. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with FP&A (Sales & CAPEX; COGS & OPEX), Legal, Procurement, HR, IT, and Commercial to ensure aligned forecasting and strategy execution.
10. Team Collaboration
  • Collaboration with Other Departments: Working closely with other departments (e.g., HR, operations, marketing) to align financial goals with broader organizational objectives.
11. Other related tasks as appointed by the management.
Relevant Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (Master’s preferred)
  • Certificated Accountant required; deep Malaysian GAAP/ IFRS expertise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with financial software systems; experience with ERP or reporting tools is an advantage.
  • CPA and/or CFA certification is a plus. 5–8 years in Malaysia corporate finance or Big4 audit with MY GAAP/IFRS focus

  • Experience in SOX/internal controls environments
  • Proficiency with ERP (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle) and BI/consolidation tools
