Job summary

Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad is seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional to support statutory and regulatory reporting under MFRS and IFRS frameworks. The role involves preparing returns, performing reconciliations, and contributing to month-end close with strong analytical input.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Finance/Accounting, a professional qualification, and 3–4 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent.
• 3–4 years related working experience.
• Understanding of IFRS and IAS principles, IFRS 17 knowledge desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing statutory and non-statutory returns to BNM/LIAM or other bodies including MFRS 4 and MFRS 17 submissions.
• Prepare reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported numbers.
• Engage in IFRS/MFRS 17 discussions and regulatory reporting requirements.
• Support month-end closing activities: journals, reconciliations, financial analysis.
• Assist in documentation for processes and accounting policies.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing statutory and non-statutory returns to BNM/ LIAM or other statutory bodies including MFRS 4 and MFRS 17 submissions
• Prepare relevant reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of reported numbers
• Involve in technical discussion and assessments for IFRS/MFRS 17, and any new accounting standards / regulatory reporting requirements.
• Support month-end closing activities, including journal postings, account reconciliations, financial analysis and regulatory reporting.
• Assist in preparing documentation for all processes and accounting policies
• Assist in assessing and analyzing financial performance on a regular basis
• Propose and assist in the implementation of appropriate procedures and systems to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency as well as internal control
• Assist in production of financial statements
• Liaise with internal stakeholders, auditors and other relevant parties on financial reporting, audit and regulatory matters.
• Participate and assist in ad hoc tasks

JOB SPECIFICATION

• Degree in Finance/Accounting related discipline or Professional qualification (ACA, CPA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Minimum 3-4 years related working experience.
• Ability to work with diverse personalities across various disciplines, cultures and business practices inherent to an international organization.
• A team player with good interpersonal skills, able to work independently to meet all deliverables timelines.
• Result oriented with a sense of urgency to follow up with project-related matters to resolution.
• Comfortable working with uncertainty and highly adaptable to change
• Understanding of general IFRS and IAS principles are required.
• A demonstrable interest in IFRS 17 and related knowledge would be beneficial.
• Preferably candidate from life insurance industry and/ or audit background.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; exposure to Oracle accounting system and process automation tools would be an advantage.
