Job summary

MetLife Malaysia seeks an Assistant Manager within the regional finance function to oversee accounts payable and receivable, month-end close, and regulatory submissions for Malaysia and/or Singapore entities.

Reporting to the Regional Entities finance function based in Hong Kong, the role also covers budgeting, planning, intercompany activities, and compliance with IFRS. The position supports regional expense management and ad-hoc finance projects.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant working experience.
• Experience with IFRS and regional finance submissions.
• Proficiency with PeopleSoft General Ledger and Accounts Payable.
• Strong Excel skills and data manipulation abilities.
• Ability to use approved AI tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, organizing information.

Responsibilities

• Month-end close activities, supporting schedules & reconciliations.
• Fixed asset management & reporting.
• Intercompany billings, collections & reporting.
• Ownership of accounts payable process: review payment requests for vendor invoices and reimbursements.
• Treasury & cashflow monitoring & reporting.
• Internal corporate compliance: balance sheet certifications, variance analysis, other reporting requirements.
• External statutory compliance: audit, corporate tax, sales & service tax, withholding tax.
• Drive/support global finance projects and ad-hoc requests.
• Coordinate financial planning and budgeting, engage stakeholders to develop forecasts.
• Assist on regional expense management: budget governance, variance analysis, forecast alignment.

Reporting to the Regional Entities finance function based in Hong Kong, the Assistant Manager is responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable function, month end closing activities, and regulatory submissions for the Malaysia and/or Singapore regional entities. Additional responsibilities may include financial planning, budgeting and regional expense management.

Principal Responsibilities

• Month-end close activities, supporting schedules & reconciliations
• Fixed asset management & reporting
• Intercompany billings, collections & reporting
• Ownership of accounts payable process: Review all payment requests received for settlement of vendor invoices, travel reimbursements verification
• Treasury & cashflow monitoring & reporting
• Internal corporate compliance: balance sheet certifications, variance analysis, other reporting requirements
• External statutory compliance: audit, corporate tax, sales & service tax, withholding tax
• Drive/support the global finance projects and ad-hoc requests
• Coordinate financial planning and budgeting process, and partner with business stakeholders and functional teams to develop accurate forecasts
• Assist on regional expense management: Budget governance, variance analysis, forecast alignment.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies/Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant working experience
• CPA/CMA/ACCA or equivalent qualification
• Knowledge of IFRS
• Experience with PeopleSoft General Ledger and Accounts Payable module is preferred
• Proficiency in various office applications, including advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to use approved AI tools to support routine tasks such as drafting, summarizing, organizing information, and improving day-to-day efficiency
• Working knowledge of AI capabilities with the ability to evaluate and validate outputs with guidance.
• Organized, detail oriented & able to multi-task under strict timelines
• Self-motivated, responsible & takes initiative with minimal supervision
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills, necessary for interactions with internal & external parties at various levels
• Willingness to achieve key targets and objectives
