The Assistant Manager – IT supports the management and operation of the Company’s IT infrastructure to ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of information technology systems across the organization. This role assists in overseeing network operations, system administration, cybersecurity, and IT support functions, while coordinating closely with the IT Manager and internal stakeholders. The Assistant Manager – IT plays a key role in implementing IT initiatives, ensuring compliance with company policies, and supporting continuous improvement in IT operations and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- 1. IT Infrastructure & Network Support
- Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, intranet, and internet infrastructure.
- Monitor network performance and support troubleshooting to ensure reliable connectivity across departments.
- Assist in capacity planning, system upgrades, and network optimization initiatives.
- Support the maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN connections to ensure network security and performance.
- 2. Server & System Administration
- Support the administration and maintenance of company servers, storage systems, and virtualization environments.
- Ensure smooth operation of core IT systems including file servers, application servers, email systems, and backup solutions.
- Assist in installation, configuration, and maintenance of operating systems, applications, and IT hardware.
- Monitor system performance and elevate issues where necessary.
- 3. Cybersecurity & Data Protection
- Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Support security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, and internal IT audits.
- Ensure timely application of system patches, updates, and antivirus protection.
- Assist in managing user access controls, authentication systems, and data protection measures.
- 4. IT Operations & User Support
- Supervise daily IT support operations and assist in managing helpdesk activities.
- Ensure timely resolution of IT incidents, service requests, and system issues.
- Maintain IT asset inventory including desktops, laptops, printers, and communication devices.
- Support system backups, disaster recovery planning, and data restoration testing.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users across departments when required.
- Assist the IT Manager in IT planning, budgeting, and procurement activities.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for system support, maintenance, and procurement.
- Support IT projects such as system upgrades, software implementation, and infrastructure improvements.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and technology enhancements to improve efficiency.
- 6. Team Support & Reporting
- Assist in guiding and mentoring IT staff to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Collaborate with other departments to understand operational needs and provide appropriate IT solutions.
- Maintain proper documentation of IT systems, configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Prepare and submit IT-related reports, incident summaries, and progress updates to management.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certifications
- Professional certifications (e.g. CCNA/CCNP, MCSA/MCSE, ITIL, cybersecurity certifications) are an added advantage.
- Experience
- Minimum 4–6 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems, or network support.
- At least 1–2 years in a supervisory or senior executive role is preferred.
- Experience working in a structured corporate or manufacturing environment is an advantage.
