Job summary

A global biopharma company is seeking an Assistant Financial Controller in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The role involves preparing financial statements, conducting financial analysis, and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure compliance with accounting standards. Job description

As the Assistant Financial Controller you are expected to provide continuous support in Financial Reporting to the Financial Controller. Your focus will be financial statements preparation with the assigned markets, gathering financial forecasting information from a variety of sources/systems, within the timetable and in the forms required by corporate guidelines. This includes delivering right first-time reporting and analysis which is insightful and supports the business to develop accurate plans in a strong controls and assurance environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the reporting of financial results for Market with commentary including income, balance sheet and cash flow which is accurate, complete and:
  • Review financial information against historical run rates and future growth plans.
  • Participate and contribute to financial review meetings with Finance Director.
  • Fully compliant with all relevant accounting standards, current best practice and any other regulations.
  • Consistently applies accounting policies which are appropriate to the current business environment.
  • Tightly controls transaction activity that operates in line with global processes and incorporates best practice financial controls.
  • Delivers insight to the Division in key areas of risk, growth and performance making recommendations for continuous improvements and remedial action as required.
  • Supports and is responsible for the inputs to the external and internal financial audits and tax, inclusive of tax audits as required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and other functions (e.g. Business leads, P2P, O2C, Stat & Tax etc.) to ensure successful financial operations.
  • Other Controllership activities as needed.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • Professional Accountancy Qualifications (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is an added advantage
  • 5 years of field experience in Financial reporting
  • Experience working within a complex Multinational Company is an added advantage
  • Good working knowledge of SAP, with exposure to Lumira, Power BI preferred
  • Expertise in creating or extracting information from /to excel databases and use of advanced formulas
  • Proficient financial knowledge of analysis, evaluation, modeling and forecasting with strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Developed analytical skills - ability to gather and analyse data from a wide range of sources
  • Excellent communication skills, fluent in English (both written and spoken)
  • Coordination, planning and organisation skills - demonstrated ability to prioritise workload in order to meet critical deadlines
  • Outside-the-box thinking and problem-solving skills, actively seeking to improve processes to make them more effective and efficient
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Adaptability and flexibility in dynamic environments
