A financial management service is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. The role involves preparing financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with regulations. Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience in finance roles, strong leadership skills, and a relevant degree. This position also requires proficiency in financial software and Excel, along with the ability to mentor junior staff. Competitive salary offered.
Responsible for the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Oversees period end closing activities and provides guidance to team members as necessary
Review and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial performances and monitor variances from plan
Preparation of periodic reports such as CAPEX, cashflow and other reports on key financial metrics
Support the preparation of management reports and other ad hoc reporting requirements
Manage budgets, monthly & quarterly forecasts process, monitors achievement of the business’ financial objectives
Collect, analyze, and interpret data, quantifying financial opportunity and risk, and recommending optimal business decisions/actions
Support other ad-hoc analytics and reporting requirements
Oversee the financial operations of the business
Oversee the company’s transaction processing system
Manage capital spending/approval process for designated locations, support the Senior Manager and other stakeholders in the preparation of business case analysis for major projects, ROI analysis along with follow up to ensure planned savings materialise
Monitors working capital balances for any ageing or risk areas
Monitors weekly, monthly and quarterly cashflow planning and forecast, ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs, identifying any potential challenges
Supports hedging requirement
Review full set of accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
Ensure timely completion of deliverables and reports to clients
Address client queries promptly or escalated when further guidance is needed
Lead and/or participate in business initiatives
Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls and company policies
Manage year‑end audits, tax compliance, GST, corporate secretarial & insurance activities
Ensure accurate and up‑to‑date financial records are maintained
Review and understand financial system and processes, identify opportunities for improvement
Develop and enhance processes to assist in controlling costs/results
Provide guidance and support to team members on the implementation of new financial tools and software
Promote best practices in financial management across the organization
Coach, mentor and support junior finance staff as required
Performance management of staff as required
Participate in cross‑functional projects as required
Any other ad hoc responsibilities as assigned or as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role.
