Overview
The role of an Assistant Manager, Accounts & Finance reporting to Senior Finance Manager. The role is part of the accounts and finance team, responsible for the full range of accounting, including bookkeeping, management accounting, monthly financial reporting (Balance sheet, Profit & Loss), and ad hoc accounting-related matters. The purpose of this role is to coordinate and perform a full set of accounts and ad hoc tasks. This role also assists the Manager to supervise members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts (Income statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) and ensure proper recording of accounting records in compliance with the company’s policies, approved accounting standards and related statutory tax requirements on timely basis.
- Coordinate day-to-day financial activities to ensure compliance with finance-related SOPs (e.g., monthly billing to clients, collection, employee claims, payments, fund transfers) and ensure all documents (soft & hard copies) are received, checked, validated and matched, with proper filing of documents.
- Prepare monthly management reports and variance analyses (actual vs. budget), highlighting areas of concern to management.
- Monitor bank balance / cash flow position and fund placement; prepare cash flow projection.
- Support in audit, tax, company secretary and banking matters and liaise with relevant parties.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing actual financial data and analysis.
- Guide accounts staff effectively and stay abreast of accounting practices and regulations. Review monthly management accounts prepared by accounts staff to ensure compliance with approved accounting standards, company policies and procedures on a timely basis.
- Keep track of project costs and compare to the project financial model.
- Undertake ad-hoc assignments when required by management.
- Review internal processes and procedures and provide recommendations to HOD to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- 5-10 years of experience in accounting or finance
- Knowledge of accounting principles and standards
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel
- Knowledge of Xero, Autocount accounting software
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate findings effectively
- Proficiency in financial budgeting and forecasting techniques
- Interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and interact with stakeholders at all levels
- Possess a positive attitude, able to work independently
- Time management skills to ensure deadlines are met, willingness to learn and take up challenges
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
