A premier hospitality establishment in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an Assistant Director of Engineering to support the Director in managing all engineering and maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in engineering management within the hospitality industry, strong knowledge of building systems, and excellent communication skills. Responsibilities include leading the engineering team, ensuring safety compliance, and implementing maintenance programs. The Assistant Director of Engineering supports the Director of Engineering in overseeing all aspects of the hotel’s engineering and maintenance operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost‑effective operation of the property while upholding the highest standards of service, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Lead, supervise, train, and schedule Engineering team members in accordance with service standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
Implement and manage preventative maintenance programs to ensure timely repair and optimal performance of all building systems, equipment, and guestroom facilities.
Ensure full compliance with local authority regulations, including life‑safety standards.
Inspect, test, and certify emergency and safety systems in accordance with brand standards and legal requirements.
Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and guest requests, ensuring appropriate follow‑up and resolution.
Support capital projects, renovations, and sustainability or energy‑conservation initiatives.
Review guest feedback and event evaluations to identify, address, and prevent engineering‑related issues.
Actively participate in and support the hotel’s Safety Committee and other operational programs.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Minimum of 5 years of progressive engineering or facilities management experience within the hospitality industry.
Degree, diploma, or equivalent required; technical or engineering degree preferred.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general building maintenance.
Previous luxury hotel experience is considered an asset.
