Job summary

A leading design consultancy in Kuala Lumpur is seeking an experienced design manager to lead and mentor their design team. The role involves overseeing multiple projects, ensuring high-quality outputs, and working closely with clients and vendors. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture and 6–10 years of relevant experience, particularly in commercial projects. Proficiency in design tools like AutoCAD and SketchUp is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the design team to deliver creative, functional, and compliant design solutions.
  • Oversee multiple projects from concept to completion, ensuring quality, timelines, and design intent are achieved.
  • Review and approve design concepts, space planning, materials, and presentations.
  • Coordinate with project managers, consultants, QS, and vendors to align design, cost, and schedule.
  • Manage client engagement, presentations, feedback, submissions, and authority approvals.
  • Ensure all design documentation complies with local codes, standards, and internal guidelines.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 6–10 years of relevant interior design experience, preferably in commercial or workplace projects.
  • Proven ability to manage end-to-end design development and multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client presentation skills.
