An Assistant Coordinator for the Guided Patient Support Program is responsible for managing day-to-day operations of a cancer patient navigation program. This individual will be responsible for the implementation of strategies to ensure that patients receive timely and effective support and services throughout their cancer journey. The assistant coordinator will coordinate with a variety of internal and external stakeholder, including healthcare provider, patient advocacy organizations, and government agencies, to promote the program’s missions and goals.
Implement strategies for providing patient navigation services to cancer patients, including outreach and engagement, assessment, referral and follow-up activities.
Collaborate with healthcare providers, patient advocacy organisations, and government agencies to promote the program’s mission and goals and to ensure that patients receive timely and effective support and services.
Develop and implement patient education materials, including informational brochures and presentation.
Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the program, including budgeting, staffing and resource allocations.
Assist in conducting regular assessments of program performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Foster a positive and supportive work environment for program staff, including coaching, mentoring and performance management.
Stay up to date on the best practices in cancer patient navigation and implement an evidence-based approach as appropriate.
Represent the program in meetings with external stakeholders and provide updates on program activities and outcomes.
To assist in ensuring regular attendance of navigators under the state office for all meetings, programmes, activities and daily work.
To assist in ensuring compliance of staff with regulations and policies of the organization.
To assist in communication of information, directives and policies from management in the state office.
To assist in preparing the financial claims forms for navigators under the state offices before being forwarded to the national administrative office.
To assist in responding to all incoming communications such as email and phone calls, as well as to filter and forward to necessary personnel or department for timely action.
To assist in arrangements for all meetings, engagements and programs within the state offices.
To assist in facilitating meetings with other external stakeholders with the organization working with the project or programme person-in-charge.
To assist in development of projects and Support programmes, and activities within the state working with partner organisations.
To assist in provision of regular and relevant updates and communication with stakeholders across all levels.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to empathise and provide compassionate support to patients
Strong organisational and administrative skills, with experience in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of the Malaysian healthcare system and the challenges faced by cancer patients
Proficiency in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
A team player with the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the patients and the team
A genuine passion for improving the lives of those affected by cancer
