Job summary

An established international logistics organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Accounting Manager to join their finance leadership team in Subang Jaya, Malaysia. You should have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, along with 5-8 years of experience in the field. Job Overview

As the Assistant Accounting Manager, you will play a key supporting role in managing the companys financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. You will oversee the accuracy and completeness of the full set of accounts while guiding and reviewing the work of the accounting team. This position partners closely with the Managing Director and Financial Controller to support statutory compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the accuracy and completeness of the full set of accounts, ensuring timely reporting while supporting the accounting team in their day-to-day tasks (not performing them directly).
  • Assist the Managing Director and FC on matters related to accounting, taxation, and audit compliance.
  • Prepare and review monthly management reports, including P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis, cash flow updates, and fixed asset schedules.
  • Coordinate the month-end closing process, working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth and timely completion.
  • Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting exercises, including data consolidation, trend analysis, and preparation of budget files.
  • Monitor AR and AP performance at a summary level, escalating issues or delays and ensuring adherence to company credit and payment practices.
  • Review weekly cash flow positions and assist in preparing short-term cash flow projections for management review.
  • Review bank reconciliations prepared by the accounting team, ensuring outstanding items are followed up and resolved promptly.
  • Handle inter-company reporting, including reviewing reconciliations, tracking settlement status, and resolving discrepancies with regional teams.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, and tax agents to ensure statutory and compliance requirements are met.
  • Contribute to strengthening internal controls and improving accounting processes, proposing enhancements where needed.
  • Provide financial analysis and business insights to support decision-making by the Managing Director and FC.
  • Participate in finance-related initiatives, including system enhancements, process improvements, and internal workflow optimisation.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline; professional accounting qualifications (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, MICPA) are highly preferred.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of financial reporting standards, tax regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Experience overseeing accounting operations (AR, AP, GL) and providing review-level guidance.
  • Good experience in handling management accounting, forecasting, variance analysis, and budgeting.
  • Strong business analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and strong Excel competency.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with local and regional stakeholders.
  • High integrity, strong attention to detail, and commitment to governance and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and deliver accurate results within deadlines.
  • Mandarin-speaking is an advantage as this role will also working very closely with Greater China counterparts.
