Job summary

Oxydata Software Sdn Bhd seeks a Head of Legal, APAC to lead the legal function across the Asia-Pacific region from its Kuala Lumpur base. Hybrid work is available and the role coordinates with China and Taiwan on complex legal matters while ensuring data privacy compliance.

The successful candidate will oversee contracts, regulatory issues, corporate governance, and cross-border transactions, while mentoring a regional legal team and managing external counsel.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with a law degree and admission to practise.
• 10+ years of relevant legal experience in regional or multinational organisations.
• Fluent Chinese reading and writing for coordination with China and Taiwan.
• Strong knowledge of commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and data protection/privacy laws.

Responsibilities

• Lead APAC legal matters aligning with global strategy and regional objectives.
• Provide strategic legal advice on regulatory, commercial, corporate, employment, and data privacy matters.
• Oversee drafting and negotiation of complex contracts, tenders, and partnerships with risk controls.
• Serve as DPO for key Asian jurisdictions and oversee privacy compliance.
• Develop and implement legal, compliance, and data governance policies.
• Manage external counsel and build stakeholder relationships.
• Support governance activities including board matters and regulatory filings.
• Lead the regional legal team and foster high performance.
