Job summary

Evonik España Y Portugal SA is seeking a diligent Fixed Asset Accountant in Malaysia to manage daily asset transactions, ensure data accuracy, and support month-end close activities. You will collaborate with Local Financial Services and project teams, maintain internal controls, and contribute to process improvements while working to strict deadlines.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, 2–3 years of experience, and proficiency in SAP or similar ERP systems, with English

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform Fixed Asset transactions with accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
• Ensure closing timelines meet Group Corporate requirements.
• Close monthly, quarterly, and year-end with other Finance teams to ensure accurate closure.
• Escalate major issues to the Key Accountant/Team Lead when needed.
• Maintain internal control systems for Fixed Asset and remediate as required.
• Build strong relationships with Local Financial Services and Controlling teams.
• Update work instructions and document variances for escalation.
• Support internal and external audits on Fixed Asset topics.
• Drive process improvements and harmonization across regions.
• Contribute to productivity improvements through benchmarking and KPI tracking.
• Undertake other assignments/projects as needed.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform Fixed Asset transaction and ensure delivery quality in terms of accuracy, completeness and timeliness on a daily basis.
• Ensure that closing timelines meet the Group Corporate requirements.
• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities and coordinate with Local Financial Services, Project Managers, Controllers and other Financial Services functional teams to ensure timely and accurate closure of accounts for Evonik companies.
• Escalate major issue for a discussion to the Key Accountant /Team Lead if required.
• Ensure all related Internal Control Systems implemented in Fixed Asset complied to the control guideline which has been established. Execution of remediation plan to be in place, if any.
• Establish and maintain strong working relationship with various stakeholders including Local Financial Services, Division/BL Controlling, Center Of Excellence and other teams within the Accounting Hub.
• Coordinate on the changes of work instructions, standard operating procedures and document local/country specific variances for discussion and escalation.
• Provide support with regards of internal and external audit for relevant Fixed Asset topic.
• Continuously support in implementing process improvement and harmonization in areas of operation internally.
• Support and align on standardization across regions and globally by focusing on alignment of end to end business process areas in the Fixed Asset function.
• Support and contribute in improving productivity of Fixed Asset by conducting relevant benchmarking exercise and monitoring through KPI.
• Undertake any other assignments / projects that may be assigned from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS

• Holds a Bachelor’s Degree or Professional Qualification in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 2-3 years of relevant working experience.
• Good verbal & written communication skills in English.
• Familiarity with Fixed Asset processes and IFRS16 is an added advantage.
• Computer literate and have experience working in SAP or other major ERP system’s work environment would be an added advantage.
• A team player, meticulous, able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Exposure to shared services environment would be preferred.
