Job summary

ExxonMobil is seeking an experienced Advanced Reforming Process Engineer to join the Kuala Lumpur Technology Center in Kuala Lumpur. You will provide technical leadership, support reforming process engineering across global manufacturing sites, and mentor engineers while driving capital projects and optimization.

The role requires 8+ years in oil/ petrochemical/refining, 3+ years in reforming tech, strong analytical skills and the ability to travel 5–10% internationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in oil, petrochemical or refining industries.
• 3+ years of reforming technology specialization.
• Experience with process modeling and simulation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of reaction kinetics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in global teams.
• Willingness to travel internationally (5–10%).

What role you will play in our team

ExxonMobil will provide a platform to think independently, take initiative, and shape the future of energy. You will be an integral part of our process engineering team, delivering technical insights into the Reforming Process and supporting manufacturing facilities worldwide.

Currently, we have an opportunity for an experienced Advanced Reforming Process Engineer to join our Kuala Lumpur Technology Center team. Position is based in Kuala Lumpur.

What you will do

• Provide active technical leadership, assist organization in goal setting, share technical and organizational knowledge.
• Process modeling sustainment and deployment support.
• Mentor and train less experienced engineers.
• Provide reforming process engineering and technical support to ExxonMobil and third‑party licensee manufacturing sites.
• Provide capital project support with reforming and/or hydroprocessing process engineering and technical support to meet business needs and efficient use of capital.
• Lead or support troubleshooting or improvement opportunities and value capture.
• Work collaboratively with vendors and suppliers to ensure appropriate designing, manufacturing, testing and delivery of equipment.
• Support successful installation, commissioning and operationalization of new or revamped facilities, and unit turnarounds.

About you

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of work experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or refining industry.
• Minimum 3 years of work specialization in reforming technology.
• Technical site or unit experience including monitoring, troubleshooting, asset support, projects and turnarounds.
• Process and equipment design experience including use of process simulation packages.
• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledgeable in reaction kinetics.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, especially in multi‑cultural global team.
• Strategic thinking and ability to develop creative fit‑for‑purpose solutions to resolve operational problems.
• Ability to influence and promote change to achieve desired results with minimal or no direct authority.
• Willingness to travel internationally as needed; expect about 5‑10% of time required for travel.
