Overview

The University of Hong Kong invites applications for the position of Administrative Assistant I/II (holding the functional title of Senior Manager/Manager) in the School of Computing and Data Science. The appointment is on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. The appointee will commence as soon as possible and be based in Hong Kong.

With the establishment of the School of Computing and Data Science, we seek an experienced and forward-thinking team leader to spearhead talent acquisition, academic programme management, and special projects in alignment with the School’s strategic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee academic human resources and accommodation-related functions, including recruitment and appointment of professoriate, academic-related staff, and key personnel, and plan/execute relocation of the School.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership and academic divisions to meet organizational development needs and formulate strategic plans for special human capital and accommodation initiatives.
  • Manage the full employee life cycle—from recruitment and onboarding to performance evaluation and offboarding; provide secretarial support to related committees.
  • Lead staff engagement and contribute to academic and administrative streamlining projects.
  • Contribute to broader administrative functions and strategic initiatives across areas as required by the School Director or the School Secretary.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, ideally in higher education; applicants with less experience may be considered for Administrative Assistant II.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese (including Putonghua) and strong digital proficiency; proven experience in project management.
Remuneration and Terms
  • Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, with annual leave and medical benefits.
  • Contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of the basic salary for Administrative Assistant I, or 10% for Administrative Assistant II.
