Job summary

A leading aviation services provider in Malaysia is seeking a finance professional to manage the preparation of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and oversee budgeting and forecasting. The role involves providing insights to management and supervising the finance team. Candidates must have strong knowledge of MFRS/IFRS and experience in financial reporting. This position offers a collaborative environment working with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with MFRS/IFRS.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard financial records.
  • Provide timely and accurate subsidiary-level reporting for group consolidation.
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management.
  • Supervise the finance and accounts team and support staff development.
Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Accounting & Reporting: manage the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for WAVI; ensure compliance with MFRS/IFRS, statutory requirements, and group reporting deadlines; oversee GL postings, reconciliations, accruals, and month‑end closing; accurately account for revenues and costs in accordance with all intercompany agreements (where applicable).
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: implement and monitor internal controls within WAVI to safeguard assets and financial records; ensure compliance with statutory audit, tax, and regulatory requirements applicable to WAVI; liaise with auditors, tax agents, and regulators during statutory audits and reviews.
  • Subsidiary Reporting to Group: provide timely and accurate subsidiary‑level reporting for group consolidation; coordinate with Group Finance on intercompany transactions and reconciliations; ensure subsidiary alignment with group policies and procedures.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: assist in preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for WAVI; monitor financial performance against budget, highlight variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Business Partnering: provide financial insights and recommendations to WAVI management for decision‑making; support operational teams in evaluating financial impact of new projects/contracts; coordinate with Group Finance on funding, capital expenditure, and treasury requirements.
  • Leadership & Team Supervision: supervise the finance and accounts team within WAVI; provide coaching, guidance, and performance evaluation of team members; support staff development and succession planning at subsidiary level.
Authority
  • Approve journal vouchers, reconciliations, and subsidiary‑level payments within delegated limits.
  • Recommend improvements to subsidiary accounting policies and procedures.
  • Represent WAVI Finance in meetings with auditors, regulators, and Group Finance.
Working Relationships
  • Internal: Acting Financial Controller, CFO, Consolidation & Tax, Corporate Finance, operational teams within WAVI.
  • External: External auditors, tax agents, regulators, and banking partners.
