Job summary

TMF Group seeks a Senior Accountant in Kuala Lumpur to join the dynamic Accounting Team. You will manage a complex portfolio including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payables, General Ledger and statutory reporting, while providing peer review to junior team members to ensure high-quality deliverables.

The role requires a university degree in accounting/finance/economics, professional qualifications (ACA/ACCA/CPA), and at least five years of experience in international or English-speaking

Qualifications

• University degree in Accounting/Finance or Economics.
• Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent) greatly advantageous.
• At least 5 years of international/English-speaking experience in audit, GL/Record-to-Report, AR/OC, or AP/PO-to-Pay.
• Experience in multi-country, multi-entity environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and strong ERP/F&A systems familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Process general accounting and reporting incl. journal entries and accruals.
• Perform month-end close and ensure accurate postings.
• Reconcile reports and accounts (bank, balance sheet).
• Handle AP activities: invoices, PO matching, cash allocations, VAT checks, payment proposals.
• Handle AR activities: invoicing, payments, AR aging, collections.
• Reconcile AP/AR to GL and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Manage team mailboxes; respond to inquiries and escalate issues.
• Peer review deliverables and support junior team members.
• Prepare statutory financial statements and working files.
• Support continuous process improvements and share best practices.
• Contribute to team metrics and performance objectives.

This position will be part of a dynamic Accounting Team that will manage a complex portfolio of clients and will constantly develop working relationships with existing clients, prospects and external advisers. This role will perform complex activities related with Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables, General Ledger and Financial and statutory reporting as part of the service scope and will provide peer review and support to the junior team members in delivering the services to the clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in timely and accurate manner general accounting and reporting including processing journal entries, calculation of accruals, posting and process allocations
• Perform month-end closing by assuring all appropriate information is entered into system
• Ensure proper reconciliation of reports and accounts i.e. bank reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation.
• Handle day-to-day Accounts Payable activities, like invoice processing, matching to purchase orders/members statements, cash allocation, confirming authorizations, checking VAT calculations and deductions, creating payment proposals, upload payment in bank portal for authorisation, reversals and corrections of incorrectly posted invoices,
• Handle day-to-day Accounts Receivable activities, like issuing invoices, incoming payment allocation and matching, AR ageing, Dunning & collection.
• Reconciling Accounts Payables/Receivables account(s) to the general ledger
• Coordinate with client and internal stakeholders, via workflow tool/email to resolve the issues.
• Manage the generic mailboxes, responding to customers / vendors inquiries in a timely manner; support, follow-up escalations of identified issues,
• Perform peer review to other team members deliverables as required by Team leader.
• Prepare statutory financial statements using Global tool and prepare statutory working files.
• Provide guidance to more junior team members as required from time to time.
• Comply with accounting standards, policies and procedures
• Explore for continuous process improvements and share best practices across teams
• Contribute to team metrics by achieving stated productivity and accuracy goals daily
• Drive many continuous process improvements and share best practices across team
• Support Team leader in achieving performance objectives

Key Requirements

• University degree preferably in Accounting, Finance or Economics
• Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent), even if partly qualified, and audit experience will be a big advantage.
• At least 5 years of experience in an international, or English-speaking environment, in one of these fields:
  • Audit,
  • or GL accounting/Record-to-Report,
  • or AR/Order-to-Cash,
  • or AP/Procure-to-Pay
• Experience in a multi-country, multiple legal entity environment will be an advantage
• Experience in BPO/SSC/Centralized delivery model will be an advantage
• Practical knowledge of accounting standards, GAAPs, IFRS will be an advantage
• Strong Microsoft Office literacy; working with Microsoft Dynamix, Oracle, SAP or other ERP / F&A systems will be an advantage.
• Good English language skills (written and spoken)
