The Accountant / Senior Accounts Executive is responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of accounting and financial operations while ensuring full compliance with Malaysian accounting standards and statutory requirements. The role plays a key part in supporting management through accurate financial reporting, analysis, and effective financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and ensure the accuracy of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee end-to-end accounting functions, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, inventory, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
- Maintain schedules for fixed assets, accruals, prepayments, deposits, loans.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Monitor daily cash movements to ensure sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
- Manage bank facilities, including loan drawdowns, interest payments, and fund transfers as directed by management.
- Plan and manage cash flow for both short‑term and long‑term funding requirements.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with MPERS/MFRS, SST regulations, and e‑invoicing requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and filing systems for audit and internal control purposes.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, company secretaries, and bankers to support statutory submissions and audits.
- Oversee inventory management, ensuring accurate stock records, proper monitoring, and coordination of replenishment activities.
Asset & Insurance Management
- Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register.
- Coordinate insurance coverage and claims for company assets.
Teamwork
- Work closely with other members of the finance and accounts departments, and management by providing financial support and relevant data.
- Undertake ad hoc tasks and contribute to cross‑functional projects as required.
Required Skills & Attributes
- Strong understanding of Malaysian Accounting Standards and statutory requirements.
- 2–3 years of audit experience is preferred.
- Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- High level of integrity, self‑driven, and able to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with accounting software (SQL) is an added advantage.
- Hands‑on, proactive, and capable of managing multiple tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in a similar accounting role.
