Job summary

A dynamic accounting firm in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah is seeking an experienced Account Manager to oversee financial record maintenance and support accounting processes. The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and a strong grasp of accounting principles. You will work closely with the accounting team while contributing to the continuous improvement of financial processes. About the role

As a ACCOUNT MANAGER, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial records and ensuring the smooth operational functioning of the company's accounting processes. This full‑time position is based in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, and offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team in the accounting and bookkeeping industry.

What you’ll be doing
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Reconciling bank statements and ensuring the accuracy of all financial transactions
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting and local tax regulations
  • Detail‑oriented with strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Providing administrative support to the accounting team, including data entry, filing, and document management
  • Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders to resolve any financial discrepancies or queries
  • Collaborating with the accounting manager to implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures
  • Staying informed of changes in accounting regulations and best practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the company's financial processes
What we’re looking for
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar account assistant role, preferably in a small to medium‑sized accounting practice
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Proficiency in using accounting software, such as Autocount and Microsoft Office suite
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with colleagues and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive and adaptable approach
  • Relevant educational qualifications in accounting or a related field, such as a diploma or degree
  • Knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) is an added advantage
