Job summary

A reputable accounting firm in Johor, Malaysia is seeking an experienced accountant to maintain financial records, prepare financial statements, and ensure compliance with local tax regulations. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance and 2–3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in accounting software and strong attention to detail are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and profit & loss accounts.
  • Handle daily bookkeeping, invoicing, payments, staff claims, and debtor collections.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports for management review.
  • Monitor company cash flow, reconcile bank statements, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws, SST, corporate tax, and statutory filings.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support internal control implementation and audit exercises.
  • Work with other departments to ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Provide financial insights to support management decisions.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive financial information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by superior/management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • At least 2–3 years of relevant working experience in accounting.
  • Proficiency in basic accounting principles and practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with accounting software (e.g., AutoCount, SQL, QuickBooks and etc.) and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record‑keeping.
  • Good organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
