A prominent academic institution in Malaysia is seeking an Academic Coordinator/Phase Leader to provide leadership in student development programs. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field, with proven leadership experience in a secondary school setting. Key responsibilities include customizing student programs and fostering a supportive learning environment. A commitment to student welfare is essential for this role.
The IMAS Phase Leaders (PLs) or Academic Coordinators
We have vacancies in both branches - IMAS KL as well as IMAS UNITEN Campus.
The PL provides leadership to ensure that student development programs and processes are carried out effectively for the level. He/she works closely with level teachers to build relationships with and understand the needs of individual students and, where appropriate, customize the implementation of the school’s student development programs (including the pastoral care curriculum) for the level. He/she is an advocate of students’ needs to ensure that school programs cater to the needs of different profiles of students. The PL helps students to build bonds with the community of teachers and students in the level. Through better understanding of their students’ needs, the teachers will also be able to provide close and timely support, and tailor lessons that increase student engagement. The PL will work in partnership with the Head of Schools to create a culture of high achievement with continuous improvement in standards.
We are looking for a candidate who is a college graduate with a strong background in education and leadership. Key requirements for this position include:
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university, preferably in Education or a related field.
Experience:
Proven experience in an educational leadership role, such as a Head of Department, Coordinator, or Assistant Head, particularly within a secondary school setting.
Experience working with students in the 15-18 age range (Grades 10, 11, and 12).
Familiarity with the IGCSE curriculum and examination requirements is highly desirable.
Leadership & Management Skills:
Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team of educators.
Strong organizational and administrative skills to oversee the phase's operations.
Proficiency in designing and conducting relevant programs in both academic and pastoral aspects.
A deep commitment to student welfare and pastoral care.
Experience in guiding and supporting students through academic and personal challenges.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with students, parents, teachers, and administration.
Ability to build positive relationships and foster a supportive learning environment.
A strong team player, capable of collaborating effectively with colleagues.
Problem-Solving:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address phase‑specific issues.
Commitment:
A proactive and enthusiastic approach to contributing to the school’s overall vision and values.
