Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities- Execute variable geometry design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to GE Aviation and Commercial business standards, DB08 practices, procedures, and VG customers' product / program requirements. This work would include mechanical engineering for all products in areas like kinematics, structural design, dynamic response design, fatigue impact and manufacturing impact.
- Developing specialized knowledge in variable geometry discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in DB08 area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how variable geometry design integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses variable geometry technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Leads Variable Geometry complex projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.
Required Qualifications- This role requires significant Engineering experience in the Variable Geometry Design included, but not limited to Commercial and NPI designs.
- At least, Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Physics
- Experience in an engineering position related to design of mechanisms
- Communication skills: Excellent written, oral production and comprehension abilities in English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in program management/leadership, budget allocation, schedule planning and tracking, business acumen and as a technical reviewer of projects involving the design of mechanisms.
- Proven successful experience as a project manager for different business' programs.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Desired Characteristics- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve variable geometry projects.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects involving variable geometry systems and interfacing departments.
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute Commercial and NPI/NTI programs.
- Established project management skills with proven successful record for GE Aerospace customers with diverse applications.
