Job Description: Disaster Recovery Project Manager

Position Summary

The Disaster Recovery (DR) Project Manager will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects that ensure business continuity and disaster recovery readiness. This role involves leading cross-functional teams, defining recovery strategies, and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and safeguard critical business operations in the event of system outages, disasters, or emergencies.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of disaster recovery projects across IT and business units.
  • Develop, document, and maintain disaster recovery strategies, plans, and runbooks.
  • Conduct Business Impact Analysis (BIA) and risk assessments to identify critical systems and processes.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery testing and simulation exercises to validate recovery capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with IT, business leaders, and external vendors to align recovery solutions with business needs.
  • Track and report project milestones, risks, and issues to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources for DR initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in disaster recovery processes and tools.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in project management, with at least 2+ years focused on disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Disaster Recovery frameworks, BCP methodologies, and ITIL practices.
  • Experience with cloud environments, data centers, and backup/recovery technologies.
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects in complex IT environments.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards (ISO 22301, NIST, SOC, etc.) is a plus.
  • Project Management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile) preferred.
  • Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery certification (CBCP, ISO 22301 Lead Implementer) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
