Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a strong background in launch readiness, series production support, and electro‑mechanical systems. This role focuses on the final stages of development through SOP (Start of Production) and beyond, ensuring that products are successfully ramped up, meet quality targets, and remain stable in the field. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on problem solver who can work cross‑functionally with design, manufacturing, suppliers, and quality teams to drive robust, manufacturable solutions for high‑volume production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own engineering deliverables during pre‑launch, SOP, and series production phases of product lifecycle.
- Drive design finalization, change implementation, and launch readiness activities to ensure seamless transition to mass production.
- Collaborate with internal and external manufacturing teams to support process validation, tooling reviews, and first‑article approvals.
- Lead and resolve production issues through structured root‑cause analysis (8D, 5 Whys, Ishikawa) and implement corrective actions.
- Conduct Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize product quality, performance, and process robustness.
- Review and refine 2D/3D models in SolidWorks, supporting late‑stage design adjustments and manufacturability improvements.
- Maintain and manage SolidWorks PDM, BOMs, and engineering documentation throughout the production lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5) and regulatory requirements (UL, CE, IP, NEC).
- Support compliance testing and interface with certification bodies as needed during product launch.
- Act as technical liaison to resolve issues during pilot builds, pre‑series builds, and supplier ramp‑up.
- Balance multiple programs and engineering changes while meeting tight delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in product or manufacturing engineering, with a focus on product launch and high‑volume series production.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- Strong experience supporting pre‑launch validation, ramp‑up, and sustaining production in the automotive or industrial sectors.
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks and knowledge of SolidWorks PDM and BOM management.
- Hands‑on experience with plastic injection molding, metal stamping, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
- Strong understanding of electro‑mechanical systems and experience supporting electrical integration into mechanical designs.
- Proficient in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and applying regulatory standards (UL, CE, NEC, IP ratings).
- Demonstrated ability to run root‑cause investigations, lead design of experiments (DOE), and drive permanent solutions into production.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with high accountability and multiple cross‑functional interfaces.
- Fluent in English for technical documentation and communication.
- Willingness to travel up to 15% to support supplier visits, factory builds, and issue resolution.
