This role in summary

Seamless execution of cost, quality, must win and business essential projects in the North American region for final manufactured products that deliver product leadership through sustainment of the business needs. Maintain and extend an effective and efficient product portfolio that delights consumers and satisfies the needs of the business and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include
  • Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team: Directly manage and mentor the Mechanical Structure Engineering team, including direct reports located in Mexico, focusing on professional development, technical capability growth, and boosting team engagement.
  • Drive Project Delivery: Accountable for the successful, on-time execution of all new product introduction (NPI), cost, quality, must-win, and business-essential projects for the NAR region. Ensure all projects meet established cost, quality, and performance targets using the Whirlpool Product Development (WPD) System.
  • Champion Technical Feasibility: Act as a critical partner to the Refrigeration Category Product Development Team (PDT) and Planning teams to confirm the technical feasibility of all project scopes, ensuring a robust pipeline to meet long-term platform targets.
  • Advance Mechanical Structure Systems: Lead the engineering efforts for critical mechanical components, including cabinets, doors, crispers, and door bins.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Own and manage the budget for the Mechanical Structure Engineering team, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as an influential leader and technical authority, promoting collaboration with key cross-functional partners including Quality, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Business teams to foster a spirit of winning.
Minimum requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in Project Engineering and Technical Design.
  • Leadership: Proven People Management experience with direct reports.
  • Technical Acumen: Demonstrated experience with System Integration and Module or Component Release processes.
  • Location: Ability to work from the Monterrey, Mexico office.
Preferred skills and experiences
  • Advanced Technical Execution: Proven experience in both developing and successfully executing complex technical projects.
  • Systems Expertise: Deep experience with systems engineering, system integration, and system design.Project Management: Experience with technical project management and the use of Agile Methodology.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Experience with basic manufacturing processes, such as injection molding and metal stamping, and working knowledge of tooling.
  • Business Acumen: Experience interacting with Procurement teams and a strong understanding of technical coaching and mentoring.
  • Skills: Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and technical reports, coupled with exceptional problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
