A multinational corporation is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel for Mexico and Latin America. The role involves providing legal advice on various employment topics, overseeing litigation, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in law, fluency in English and Spanish, and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. This position is based in Mexico and offers opportunities to work within a diverse legal environment.

Formación

  • Minimum of 8 years of labor & employment law experience.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a must; additional languages are a plus.
  • Prior in-house experience preferred.

Employment Counsel – Mexico and Latin America
Summary of Job Profile

The Employment Counsel for Mexico and Latin America is an experienced labor & employment lawyer, responsible for Orbia’s employment law function in these regions. Reporting to Orbia’s Global Head of Labor and Employment, you will serve as a key legal partner and resource for the Legal teams and People teams across all of Orbia’s business groups in Mexico and Latin America.

What you’ll do
  • Provide timely and practical legal advice to meet the labor/employment legal needs of a global company.
  • Provide day‑to‑day advice and guidance to People Team members and business leaders in Mexico and Latin America on a variety of employment topics, including hiring, performance management, employee relations, leaves of absence and accommodations, workplace safety issues, discipline and termination, compensation, benefits, and union/labor relations.
  • Partner closely and collaboratively with investigative functions, providing day‑to‑day employment law advice relating to internal investigations in Mexico and Latin America.
  • Oversee employment‑related litigation in Mexico and Latin America, including responding to attorney demand letters, effectively negotiating resolution of claims, and making recommendations to the People Team and senior management on corrective action.
  • Oversee and manage outside counsel on all matters in Mexico and Latin America to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective service, leveraging an established network of outside counsel.
  • Prepare template agreements to build efficiencies internally.
  • Review and enhance employee policies, procedures, handbooks, and training in Mexico and Latin America to ensure compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • Monitor changes to employment and labor regulations and advise Legal teams and People teams on changes affecting employment and labor obligations.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years of labor & employment law experience.
  • Bachelor of Laws Degree or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is a must; additional languages such as Dutch, French, German or Polish is a plus.
  • Prior in‑house experience preferred.
