Job Purpose

The Global Data Science and Advanced Analytics team at Colgate-Palmolive is dedicated to developing deploying and delivering internally built analytics capabilities and solutions at scale that drive business growth and impact by answering critical business questions or analytical use cases.

As the demand for these analytical capabilities and solutions increase Colgate-Palmolive is investing in implementing geographically based Advanced Analytics Pods to support the scaling and execution of these capabilities in a faster and more efficient manner. The use cases and analytics capabilities are : Price and Promo Analytics Promo Effectiveness and Efficiency Analytics and Marketing and Media Effectiveness Analytics (MME Analytics). There will be three Advanced Analytics Pods to ensure coverage and supporting the needs of the Colgate-Palmolive Divisions. These Pods will have a Colgate-Palmolive lead (this role) and manage a number of external partners (Data Scientists) to implement and deliver the right analytics capabilities.

This role will be in charge to lead and drive the Americas Pod supporting the North America Latin America and Hills Pet Divisions analytics needs.

This role will report directly to the VP of Global Data Science & Advanced Analytics and will work closely with the Global Advanced Analytics Pod (based in India) to ensure the accurate application and implementation of the analytics solutions internally developed.

As the lead of the Advanced Analytics Pod the Senior Manager is also responsible to manage and lead the team of external vendors - Data Scientist staff augmentation - to support the implementation and execution of the analytics capabilities for the Pod.

This role will work very closely with the Division Analytics teams to understand the analytics needs and business requirements to deploy execute and deliver the right analytics solutions that address those needs and requirements. It will also help prioritize the efforts accordingly to meet the business needs and timing of delivery.

The role involves working closely with business teams to understand their needs formulate hypotheses and connect data-driven insights to business problems.

Acting as an intermediary between the business and data scientists / analysts it ensures that the appropriate use cases are addressed. Utilizing both internal and external data sources such as Syndicated Market Data and Point of Sales data the role develops and supports analytics and insights-based services and solutions.

Leveraging strong expertise in statistical data analytics and machine learning / AI with experience in CPG analytics (e.g. PnPs Promo Analytics MMMs... etc) he / she will implement or build predictive models and algorithms that drive business performance. Additionally the role involves efficiently managing and working with large datasets to obtain and communicate business insights effectively.

Main Responsibilities
  • Leads the study scoping and delivery of Pricing and Promotion Analytics Marketing and Media Effectiveness (e.g. MMMs Digital Deep Dives...)
  • Conceptualizes implements and / or builds predictive modeling statistical models machine learning models simulations and optimization solutions to address business questions or use cases using as foundation the currently available analytics workbench
  • Applies ML and AI to analytics algorithms to build inferential and predictive models allowing for scalable solutions to be deployed across the business
  • Plays a critical role in the Governance improvement and development of our internal analytics solutions working with the other Advanced Analytics Pods
  • Able to interpret analytics results and present insights in an easy to interpret way to the business teams
  • Understands business needs and questions and identifies the right analytics capabilities to solve them
  • Simplifies complex analyses into actionable recommendations
  • Translates the analytics and integrates and implements learnings into business processes
  • Act as a bridge between the business and data scientists and data analysts from Global and the Division
  • Identifies use cases to be addressed by data scientists co-develops analytics solutions
  • Develop and manage visualization deliverables / web applications that bring to life the data sets allowing for drill downsdiagnostics and self-service by the functions in the center and on the ground.
  • Assist with change management needs (e.g. training communications etc.) as part of roll-out and on-going support of analytic tools processes and services.
  • Ready to work collaboratively with business partners across geographies
Required Qualifications
  • Graduation BE or BTECH Economics in Statistics.
  • 10 years of experience in driving analytical insights and solutions
  • Experience supporting and working with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Strong hands-on / experience on developing statistical models such as regression ridge regression lasso random forest SVM gradient boosting logistic regression K-Means Clustering Hierarchical Clustering etc.
  • Strong hands on experience on coding languages Python SQL PySpark SparkR
  • Deploying models via GitHub Airflow Docker and knowledge of MLOps
  • Working knowledge on visualization tools like Domo Looker
  • Experience front facing Business teams (Client facing role) supporting and working with multi-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • Presentation skills (structuring storytelling familiarity with ppts)
  • Ability to provide structure and think strategically in complex business context
  • Build processes supporting data transformation data structures metadata dependency and workload management
  • Ability to independently plan and execute deliveries and be comfortable in a client facing role
  • Leading a project team for solutioning predictive models and Ad-hoc data needs from internal and external sources
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Statistics MSc in Economics MBA in Business Analytics / Data Science
  • Strong Knowledge of Snowflake Google Cloud environment components like Cloud Build Cloud Run Kubernetes
  • Implementation Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their real-world advantages / drawbacks.
  • Experience with other cloud services : AWS Azure etc
  • Working knowledge on visualization tools like Domo Looker streamlit
  • Implementation Experience with building web applications using Django Dash Python Flask Angular JS Plotly
  • Experience with third-party data i.e. syndicated market data Point of Sales etc.
  • Experience working in CPG industry in Data Science and Advanced Analytics roles ideally in the geographies this role will support
