A global pharmaceutical company located in Lerma, Mexico, seeks a Site EHS Head to lead Environmental, Health, and Safety strategies. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing safety protocols and compliance within the pharmaceutical or chemical industries. Formación

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Site EHS Head to lead our Environmental, Health, and Safety strategy at our production site in Lerma, Mexico. Responsibilities
  • Define EHS Policy, objectives, guidelines and procedures of the EHS Management System in coordination with the Site General Manager, in order to prevent risks about safety and health of our employees, customers, visitors, contractors, suppliers and neighbors, to Environment Protection and to the facilities.
  • Ensure the compliance to all EHS Corporate Standards and programs (Process Safety, Environmental footprint, Occupational Hygiene, etc.).
  • Keep direct communication with all leves in the organization (internal and external): General Manager, SLT, EHS Regional leader, Regional leaders of each EHS program.
  • Management of EHS Budget and compliance with all finance and business policies.
  • Ensure the implementation of emergency plans and programs, through the development of manuals, training and conducting drills periodically in order to ensure that all employees know how to act in emergency response to reduce or minimize the impact.
  • Ensure the compliance of training programs related to safety, industrial hygiene and environmental control, for the personnel of the different productive, administrative areas, new hired employees and contractors; establish the objectives that must be achieved and the level of knowledge and awareness required for each position.
  • Ensure the good performance and the interaction of Emergency Brigade with external emergency resources such as red cross, firemen department, police, external industrial emergency response groups in case of needed, as well as establish clear responsibilities and scope of each group.
  • Ensure legal compliance in terms of Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Control, through constant regulatory updating, analysis of the aspects that involve the company and the development of specific plans and programs to get full compliance. This avoids sanctions, and fines that may result in the closure of the company.
  • Ensure the activities of identify, assess and control of physical, chemical and biological agents that may affect the health of workers, within the company's facilities, through the application of specific techniques, thereby It is possible to know the risks present and define mitigation measures for their control.
  • Ensure the compliance to the different Government dependencies as: STPS (Secretary of Labor), CNA (National Water Commission), PROFEPA (Federal Office of Environment), SEMARNAT (Environmental Agency), Civil Protection.
  • Coordinate the audits of the Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Management System, to verify compliance
  • Hold the Management Review meetings in which the elements of the Safety, Occupational Health and Environment Management System are considered, and the EHS Council with SLT.
  • In terms of Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Environmental protection, the owner of the position knows, commits and acts in accordance whith the procedures and applicable standards of EHS.
Who are you?

We are looking for a highly qualified professional with a degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, and at least five years of experience in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response, Environmental Protection, and Sustainability within chemical, API, or global pharmaceutical companies.

The ideal candidate brings proven expertise in handling high potent chemical compounds, along with a strong track record in implementing, maintaining, and improving EHS Management Systems in line with local regulations and corporate standards. You should be comfortable tracking and analyzing performance indicators related to compliance, customer service, business sustainability, and people development.

Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to coach and develop teams to achieve high performance. An advanced level of English is required, as this role involves regular interaction with global teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • Education: Chemical Engineer or related engineering.
  • Experience: 10 to 15 years of experience in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Emergency Response and Environmental Protection in chemical companies, active pharmaceutical ingredients industries or pharmaceutical companies with global presence.
  • Capabilities: Expertise in the implementation of EHS Management System based on local regulations and EHS Corporate Standards. Follow up of KPIs oriented to compliance, customer service, business and people development. Leadership and communication, coaching and people development.
  • Language: Advanced English. (mandatory)
  • Residence: near Toluca or Lerma area.
