General Manager, Mexico Operations

Purpose of the Role:

  • Overall P&L responsibility and accountability for meeting the business and financial targets of the agricultural operations at San Miguel.
  • Cascade the strategic agenda and develop implementation strategies that meet the expectations of the business.
  • Monitor the day-to-day performance of the business and provide advice and direction to the management team as required to keep business unit KPIs on track.
  • Development of the talent base by role modeling a positive leadership style and excellent coaching to improve performance.
  • Assume accountability for capital projects (current and future) and ensure delivery of outcomes on time and within budget.
  • Ensure that performance improvement opportunities are identified, and supplier relationships are maintained and improved.
  • Actively contribute to the Leadership Team meetings and in particular, broader issues affecting the company and its strategic direction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership

  • In partnership & collaboration with the CEO & Board of Directors, develop and execute a strategic vision that aligns with the company’s overall objectives. Identify and pursue untapped market opportunities, potential partnerships, and emerging trends to drive business growth and opportunities.
  • Provide leadership and direction, set goals, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Drive and execute initiatives to enhance operational, efficiency, productivity, and quality to deliver world-class customer experience.

Strategy

  • In partnership & collaboration with the President of Fresh and the Fresh leadership team, develop and execute a strategic vision that aligns with the Company’s overall objectives.
  • Align people and organization around change, act as a change leader but create a series of change leaders within the San Miguel management team to support a coordinated effort.
  • Develop, present, and participate in growth activities to support the overall strategy, business objectives, and plans.
  • Engage with other Leadership Team members, as required, to collaborate on growth opportunities and/or cross-business unit synergies.
  • Deliver outcomes according to the strategic plan by providing leadership and input for all strategic plan implementation processes.
  • Coaching the business unit managers as they implement the strategic plan and growth outcomes.

People Management

  • Responsible for providing direction, leadership, and support to management by assisting them in managing, motivating, and developing their employees by:
  • Ensuring capability development planning for key roles is being addressed.
  • Ensuring workplace relations issues are resolved effectively and with minimal impact on the business.
  • Providing support and assistance to management in resolving conflicts
  • Overseeing performance management processes are undertaken to a high standard.

Financial Management

  • Responsible for the overall profit result (Operating Contribution & EBITDA) for the Mexico operations by:
  • Ensuring accurate forecasting.
  • Working with and assisting direct reports to set up budgets in line with the needs of the business and resources available and ensuring each area of the business is managed in line with the budget allocated.
  • Ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to maintain the integrity of the financial reporting process.
  • Ensuring cash and debtors are managed on time.
  • Ensuring appropriate reports are available and accurate to report business outcomes to Business Support functions.
  • Developing and maintaining a profit improvement program capable of delivering better-than-budget profit outcomes.
  • Preparing an annual budget and presentation for Executive and Board approval.Ensure the budget is presented in a clear and concise form so that all stakeholders can understand the key profit drivers of the Mexican operations.

Operations

  • Drive and execute initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, productivity, and quality to deliver consistent service quality to a high standard.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction to the operations to ensure the Mexico business is run to budget and operations targets are met by:
  • Assisting in setting production budgets.
  • Setting production key objectives.
  • Understand the capabilities and needs of the people.
  • Following up and ensuring production results are achieved.

Sales & Commercial

  • Responsible for ensuring strong local customer relationships and partnerships are being built by:
  • Supporting the VP of Sales to drive the sales team to ensure they are creating new business opportunities and maintaining current relationships.
  • Working with customers to understand the market in which they operate and assisting them in achieving their KPIs by providing innovative solutions.
  • Liaising with customers and negotiating supply contracts at a local level.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in agriculture, fresh produce, FMCG, or related industry with a strong record of leadership success.
  • Proficient in fiscal management, including budget development, cost-effective measures, financial analysis, and P & L accountability.
  • Excellent ability to engage in the “Big Picture” while planning with detail and acting to skillfully resolve problems and issues within the organization.
  • Proven success in driving sales strategies and achieving revenue targets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a flexible and collaborative style.
  • Hands-on and player-coach mentality to help lead, develop, motivate, and drive a highly engaged and performing team.
  • Proven success to thrive in a goal-driven, solution-oriented, and passional-driven environment.
  • Creative and innovative thinker with a record for translating strategic thinking into action plans that align with business objectives & key results.
  • Strong ability to synthesize information from multiple sources, and communicate ideas and data both verbally and written persuasively and concisely.
  • Comfortable and skillfully pushing against a business-as-usual mentality.
  • Strong project management skills with a proven record of successful project execution.
  • Proven record in solution-based problem-solving techniques.
  • Must have working-level knowledge of English and Spanish language including reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Must be willing to travel to the United States.
