About The Role:
The Content Strategist is a crucial, client-facing role responsible for day-to-day client deliverables, creating and managing custom client strategies, and communicating with clients and internal stakeholders. The Strategist works with more Enterprise clients and should have a deep understanding of their service line and how it impacts other areas of business to create a holistic marketing strategy.
Please note: internally, this role is titled Account Strategist, Content & SEO.
What You'll Do:
Strategic Excellence and Best Practices: Strategists are responsible for creating custom strategies and implementing best practices for their clients to achieve NSMs. The strategist will use the project phase as a foundation for the initial client strategy and will optimize strategies over the client lifetime based on goals, ongoing campaigns, and historical performance, while adhering to Directive best practices.
Collaborate with Associate Director (AsD) when roadblocks arise that impact strategy and goal attainment.
Craft creative briefs and compelling content campaigns with a focus on ideation from competitor and audience insights.
Apply best practices to keep clients positioned to exceed goals, including:
LTV:CAC modeling
Customer Generation
Share of SERP
Content Production
Goal Setting: Use available data to set client goals during engagement, to be reviewed and approved by the AsD in meetings.
Data sources include Google Analytics, CRM data, SEMrush reporting, and Ahrefs reporting
All goals must be approved by the AsD before presenting to the client with the AsD.
Project Management: Ensure planned strategies are executed. Define responsibilities using project management to keep both Directive and client teams on track toward goals.
Use of Asana is required.
Delegate tasks to team members and clients, ensuring timely completion.
Partner with Project Managers in pods to ensure tasks are created, assigned, and due dates met, and communicated to the client.
Collaborate with content writers and designers to complete content campaigns on time while maintaining client quality standards.
Internal and External Communication: Act as the main interface between clients and our team, building relationships beyond deliverables and proactively communicating with clients and internal leadership to drive results.
Proactively communicate timelines for deliverables, progress toward goals, and use shared channels (e.g., Slack) for ongoing updates between bi-weekly meetings.
Inform internal leadership of roadblocks, growth opportunities, and any moments of change on client accounts.
Reporting: Regularly report to clients on progress and impact of strategies with a defined cadence:
Bi-weekly client meetings
Notes on NSM progress and ongoing deliverables
Monthly, quarterly reports
Bi-annual business reviews
What You'll Bring:
Proven track record implementing SEO principles and content strategy: keyword research, on-page optimization, and link building
Analytical insight: ability to analyze website traffic and SEO metrics using tools like Google Analytics
Strong communication skills: comfortable client facing and owning relationships with key stakeholders
Familiarity with industry tools such as Google Search Console, Google Analytics, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog/crawling tools
Proven organizational, project, and time management skills
Genuine enthusiasm for digital marketing, SEO and Content
Must have agency experience
Must have B2B tech and/or SaaS experience

Strategists are expected to regularly look for opportunities for our clients to grow their business with Directive.
Examples of this include:
Growing into another service line such as SEO or Paid Media
Growing within their current service line such as increasing content, SEO, or Paid Media budgets
Referrals are a natural extension of building a solid relationship with our clients and strategists should be in the habit of asking for a referral at key moments.

Work Environment Requirements
As a remote-first company, you’ll have the ability to work from anywhere in the US, with the option to enjoy our state-of-the-art offices in Irvine, California. For some positions, we will accommodate global opportunities where we have established businesses, including Canada, the UK, and Australia. For global locations, you must have established and current work authorization and permanently reside in that country.
This role has the opportunity to operate 100% virtually from your home office. We primarily collaborate with our colleagues through virtual meetings (Zoom), and Slack. In this role, you will be required to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac available), computer software platforms, and other office productivity tools as necessary. Due to the nature of this role, you must be able to remain stationary for extended periods, must be able to observe and interpret written and/or verbal communication, must have reliable internet access, and a professional background.
