Overview

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Lead to provide technical leadership across backend systems, ensuring seamless integration of platforms and digital channels. The Backend Lead will work closely with Head of Development and solution teams to drive modernization, scalability, and performance improvements across core applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the backend engineering track, providing technical direction and mentorship to development teams.
• Define and implement the backend modernization roadmap in alignment with enterprise objectives.
• Oversee system integration across applications, APIs, and digital platforms.
• Ensure backend architectures meet non-functional requirements: scalability, performance, availability, and security.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architect, Frontend Lead, and DevOps Lead to align backend solutions with enterprise architecture standards.
• Conduct code reviews, technical assessments, and optimization exercises for critical backend services.
• Provide input into governance processes, ensuring compliance with best practices and coding standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years in a backend leadership role.
• Strong expertise in Java and Spring Boot (primary backend stack).
• Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Kafka, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong database expertise (SQL and NoSQL – DynamoDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
• Solid understanding of software design patterns and principles (OOP, SOLID, clean architecture).
• Cloud deployment knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) with focus on scalability and high availability.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with focus on performance optimization.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills (Spanish/English bilingual preferred).

Good to Have

• Experience with .NET Core or Node.js in enterprise environments.
• Exposure to container orchestration platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
