Position Overview

The Associate Director, Procurement, Secondary Data & Analytics is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Category Strategy for enterprise Secondary Data and Analytics Services. This includes sourcing and management of sales data, claims data, healthcare data, real‑world data, and advanced analytics services leveraging decision analytics and artificial intelligence. The role ensures close alignment with business priorities and functional objectives across the organization.

This position will maintain and implement a three‑year strategic plan aligning with company and business unit priorities, driving sourcing initiatives to maximize value. The Associate Director oversees the execution of category strategies by leading multiple cross‑functional and market teams, including sourcing and contracting efforts. Key areas of responsibility include procurement principles, practices, and processes, as well as expertise in sourcing, contract negotiation, supplier management, procurement technologies, and industry trends.

Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities Strategic Business Partnering & Category Strategy Development
  • Partner with BMS Commercial and IT functions to manage a variety of data sources, such as National/Subnational, Spec Pharm, Claims, Customer Master, VAP, and other relevant datasets.
  • Develop and implement data stewardship practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for Data & Analytics categories.
  • Establish a global matrix team—including Agile Sourcing, Strategic Corporate Transactions, and Ex‑US Site Leads—with clear roles and responsibilities to present a unified approach to business leads.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement a three‑ to five‑year strategic plan, leading major category initiatives such as end‑to‑end process optimization and make/buy analysis, and providing recommendations to business partner teams.
  • Define buying channels and purchasing policies to ensure compliance and adherence to category strategy, focusing on a user‑centric approach.
  • Develop and maintain self‑service processes and frameworks that enable business units to purchase from preferred suppliers and rate cards.
  • Support data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data privacy, security, and regulatory compliance.
Supplier Management
  • Develop and manage a list of preferred suppliers within each category of spend, ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  • Support supplier development initiatives to cultivate a pipeline of new and potential supplier partners.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and innovation to empower BI&T, Commercial, category, and functional leads in achieving their strategic objectives.
Qualifications - Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) required, preferably in a quantitative discipline. An MBA or other graduate degree is preferred.
  • At least seven (7) years of business experience in a Secondary Data‑related role or within a Procurement function.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in change management and execution of change strategies.
  • Experience leading and participating in cross‑functional and/or global teams.
  • Proficiency in internal stakeholder management, data/information management, continuous improvement, and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, agreement management, financial analysis, market and supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, and strategic planning.
  • Preferred experience in data acquisition and management focused on solving business challenges, providing insights, and identifying opportunities for the business.
