Senior Network Engineer

Location: Salmiya, Kuwait

Job Purpose / Role

• Candidate should possess hands-on experience with Cisco ACI and Transmission data center interconnect.
• Responsible for supporting, implementing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and documenting network operations and activities.
• Participate actively in daily network operations, capacity management, and resilience.
• Adopt industry best practices and technologies for enterprise network environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and develop network and infrastructure services supporting business requirements.
• Ensure security and optimal performance of network and infrastructure services.
• Configure, maintain, and support network solutions in offices, data centers, and external projects.
• Configure and maintain network equipment such as switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers.
• Coordinate with multiple project teams.
• Optimize network infrastructure and document topologies and changes.
• Troubleshoot network issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Prepare and coordinate technical tasks and maintain project documentation.
• Design and supervise network allocation, commissioning, and decommissioning.
• Promote decommissioning of inefficient solutions and implement disaster recovery plans.
• Participate in educational opportunities to update job knowledge.
• Recommend IT strategies, policies, and procedures based on evaluations and trends.
• Track infrastructure requests to meet SLAs and plan/execute disaster recovery tests.
• Support network systems and infrastructure to meet standards and SLAs.
• Install and configure new network components and software.
• Coordinate with third parties like Akamai and Google for service provisioning.

Monitoring, Alerting & Reporting

• Monitor and report on infrastructure performance and security compliance.
• Perform routine audits and monitor incident reports.
• Ensure network availability and monitor connectivity and BGP on internet and WAN segments.

Documentation

• Document system configurations, resolutions, and create/update policies and procedures.
• Maintain disaster recovery procedures and review ISMS procedures annually.

Qualifications, Experience, & Skills

Eligibility Criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.

Certifications:

• CCIE R&S / Data Center / Service Provider
• CCNP Security
• Certified Advanced Networking for Cloud

Minimum Experience:

• 15+ years in IT networks within capital markets, banking, or financial institutions, preferably within an exchange.
• At least 2 years experience with Cisco ACI.
• Experience with transmission systems like Adva, Alcatel, Lucent, Ciena.

Skills

• Knowledge of DWDM, CWDM, link power budgeting, multiplexing services over Muxponders.
• Understanding of ACI architectures and components, Nexus DC technologies, infrastructure as code, and automation tools.
• Strong knowledge of switching and routing protocols and technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise/data center switches, routers, firewalls, and virtualization platforms.
• Knowledge of data center architecture, scripting languages, cloud/virtualization technologies, and security principles.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
