Job summary

Egis is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, installation, and optimization of mechanical systems for port operations in Kuwait. You will supervise a team of engineers and technicians, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and drive reliability through preventive maintenance and innovative solutions.

The role requires deep port experience, strong CAD/analysis skills, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of professional mechanical engineering experience with at least 8 years in port, maritime, or heavy industrial operations.
• Proven expertise in designing and maintaining mechanical systems including cargo handling equipment, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic machinery.
• Advanced CAD and engineering analysis skills with CAD software (AutoCAD, CATIA) and ANSYS or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of IMCA, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 safety standards and Kuwait regulations.
• Experience in preventive/predictive maintenance and reliability engineering.
• Proven leadership in managing technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills in English; Arabic is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, maintain, and optimize mechanical systems for port infrastructure.
• Lead and mentor a team of engineers and technicians to ensure safety and quality.
• Analyze mechanical failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve asset life.
• Prepare design specifications, maintenance manuals, and SOPs for operations.
• Ensure compliance with IMCA, ISO standards, and local Kuwait regulations.
• Coordinate with operations, procurement, and safety teams for equipment upgrades and schedules.
• Evaluate vendor proposals and manage supplier relationships.
