Job summary

ADES Global is seeking a seasoned mechanical maintenance supervisor to oversee planned maintenance and repairs on drilling rig equipment. You will supervise the mechanical crew, ensure adherence to PM/CM work orders, and maintain detailed logs and documentation of all activities.

The role requires 3+ years in mechanical drilling operations, formal mechanic training, and fluency in English. Strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with Tool Pusher teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Formal training as mechanic; multi-year apprenticeship or technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of working experience in mechanical field in drilling/workover operations with supervisory experience.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
  • PC literate and capable in MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned preventive maintenance and servicing of mechanical equipment and systems on drilling rigs.
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Supervise mechanics and oversee tools usage while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and document maintenance records, reports, and work orders in the CMMS/PM system.
  • Coordinate with Senior Tool Pusher and maintenance teams to ensure timely maintenance and safety inspections.

Job description

Responsible for performing planned preventive maintenance activities including the repairing, and servicing of all mechanical equipment and systems essential to drilling operations and rig site in general. Conducts effective supervision of mechanical crew and tools utilization while considering the safety of personnel, the environment, and equipment, the quality of the Planned maintenance system work reports for PM and CM work orders for Mechanical department to maximize drilling operation efficiency.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:
  • Diagnosing mechanical problems, faults and malfunctions in mechanical equipment and systems, using diagnostic tools, equipment manuals, and technical documentation to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implementing effective solutions to restore functionality and minimize downtime.
  • Communicate equipment problems or break down information via Senior Tool Pusher to technical maintenance support team.
Equipment Maintenance & Operations:
  • Maintaining the reliability and integrity of rig mechanical equipment and systems, including drilling, mechanical, and safety systems.
  • Overseeing the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment at location, including but not limited to engines, generators, pumps, compressors, cranes, and hydraulic systems, to ensure optimal performance of the rig.
  • Survey the condition of all well control equipment in use each shift, report any system issues to the Senior tool pusher and raise corrective work order to manage the repair. Will inform by e mail both the Senior tool pusher and office based well control equipment superintendent of the equipment status so Contractual and API compliance can be assessed.
  • Ensure that repairs, needed or made, are registered in the form of a work order in the company maintenance system.
  • Carry out Planned maintenance work orders on time with good quality and record actual work done, inform Senior Tool pusher where access to perform work is not granted.
  • Ensure Mechanical and Drill crew reference OEM manuals when carrying out PM or CM work on any rig equipment do not reply solely on the PM work instruction.
  • Supervise the oil sample program and review the results, ensure work orders are raised to rectify bad samples.
  • Spot check lubrication carried out by drilling crew for quality.
  • Maintain and repair power plants and monitor power distribution – ensure power is always available.
  • Verification and inspection of third-party equipment and installations when required.
  • Ensure new equipment installations on the drilling unit are managed by management of change Synergi case where appropriate as outlined in the ADES management system by highlighting the potential need to Senior Tool Pusher.
  • Conducting functional and commissioning tests and inspections to verify the proper operation of newly installed equipment as per regulatory and company standards outlined in MOC before it is put into service.
  • Communicates with and consult the technical maintenance support team to their work areas where repairs are necessary.
  • Understands and utilizes the Preventive Maintenance System for tracking, monitoring, and managing the maintenance and performance of equipment within the location.
  • Ensures the proper and on time implementation of the mechanical preventive maintenance plans with proper documentation to address potential issues before they escalte.
  • Communicates to Senior Tool Pusher when maintenance access time is not adequate to perform the tasks fully.
  • Plan and coordinate with the Senior Tool Pusher and other departments to secure equipment’s and perform safety inspections prior to any operations or major activity such as rig moves, running & retrieving BOP.
  • Ensuring that the appropriate mechanical requirements of the statutory and regulatory bodies including the classification society are adhered to and records maintained.
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, consumables, and supplies for mechanical equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained to support ongoing operations and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinating with procurement and logistics teams to procure spare parts and replacement components as needed, ensuring timely delivery, availability & compliance with the class & certification requirements.
  • Responsible for housekeeping standards in machinery and workshop areas. Machine and switchboard areas to be kept clear of all flammable materials.
  • Ensure that all mechanical equipment’s are properly secured and protected for transportation, while overseeing the disassembly and loading of equipment’s onto transport vehicles.
  • Supervise the rig move crew to reassemble and install all mechanical equipment’s at the new location and perform the final checks on the system to ensure they are ready for drilling operations.
Client Management:
  • Promote and maintain an effective working relationship with other departments, third party personnel and Client Representatives.
  • Responds to client requests and needs concerning materials, equipment, and personnel after getting adequate management approval.
Reporting and Documentation:
  • Maintains proper logs and records of all mechanical maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the quality of the Planned maintenance system work reports for PM and CM work orders for Mechanical department
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports, including daily equipment status reports, incident reports, job safety analysis for hazardous activities.
  • Ensure the permit to work and isolation systems are followed and applied.
  • Supply information to assist in the development of maintenance and repair budget.
People Management:
  • Provide clear instructions to their team regarding their duties, responsibilities, and any necessary safety precautions prior to commencing work.
  • Mentor, develop and train their team to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Identifies opportunities for skill and career advancement, works to support the professional growth of their team.
  • Ensure their team receives the necessary required training to perform their duties safely and effectively through on-the-job training, and participation in safety drills and exercises.
  • Support, promote and actively participate in ADES’s Competency Assurance Program for their team.
  • Evaluates the performance of their team on constant and fair feedback basis, identify areas for improvement, drive ADVANCE process to formalize a performance management culture.
Job Requirements
Education & Experience
  • Formal training as mechanic in the form of a multi-year apprenticeship and or technical degree is preferred.
  • Time served in the oil field as mechanic with relevant training certificates and references may be accepted in place of apprenticeship.
  • Minimum three (3) years of working experience in the mechanical field in drilling and workover operations and have demonstrable supervisory skills.
  • Preferred to have working experience on land rigs or offshore rigs.
  • Fluent in the English language (Spoken & Written)
  • PC literate in Microsoft Office
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly climbing (stairs, ladders).
  • Regularly bending, twisting, and standing.
  • Ability to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (Noise / Humidity / Cold / Heat).
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to workday or night shift as required with 12 hours minimum shift.
