Job description

1.To supervise survey crew in project, design, topographic, hydrographic property, and other types of control surveys.

2.To forecast survey crew workload, schedule work and prioritize the work of the survey section according to the needs of other sections, departments and outside agencies.

3.To oversee the collection and recording of survey data, check for adequacy and accuracy of survey data, review reports and give recommendations.

4.To review and take measurements and determine property / work boundaries and to provide data relevant to the shape, location, elevation or dimension of land for Engineering, construction or other purposes

5.To perform, direct and assign work in the office when processing field data; prepares final maps and documents, technical correspondence, comprehensive reports and detailed calculations.

6.To consult other sections, departments, private contractors and consulting engineers to resolve related problems and provide all types of survey information.

7.To assist the project manager with the survey section’s budget and makes equipment procurement recommendations and staffing-level recommendations.

8.To provide and oversee the training of subordinate surveyors and make recommendations for educational opportunities and professional goals.

9.To perform surveying cost analyses to determine the economic feasibility of surveying individual capital improvement projects.

10.To review and approve property descriptions for the District; prepare and submits Record of Survey in accordance with rules and regulations.

11.To supervise/ compute geodetic measurements and interpret survey data in order to determine positions, shapes and elevations of topographic features

12.To establish fixed points for use in making maps, using geodetic and engineering instruments.

13.To prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports and legal descriptions of surveys in order to certify and assume liability for work performed.

14.To coordinate report findings with engineers and architectural personnel, clients, and others parties involved with the projects.

15.To prepare/supervise preparation of all data, charts, records, etc and to record the results of land surveys and features.

16.To verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at site.
