Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Munitions/Weapons Technician Apprentice to support deployments to CONUS/OCONUS locations. Responsibilities include assembly, maintenance, inspection, and load/transport of munitions and armament systems. Requires USAF tech school or DoD equivalent, English proficiency, and ability to deploy as required.

Candidate must meet DoD security clearance requirements and maintain weapon certification; readiness for forward deployments is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of one year of Aircraft Munitions/Weapons maintenance experience.
  • Completed USAF Munitions/Weapons Tech School or DoD equivalent.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Must be able to perform Increment Monitor duties (prep, documentation, pallet build-up, hazardous cargo).
  • Must meet deployment criteria and be able to deploy to forward locations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, modify, repair, and adjust aircraft armament systems and components.
  • Maintain, destroy, and demilitarize ammunition and explosive components.
  • Operate computer hardware/software for stock control and accounting.
  • Inspect bomb release systems and missile launchers for repair needs.
  • Support inspection, maintenance, storage, and embargos of munitions and equipment.
  • Assist with weapons program QA, continuity, and standardization.

Job description

Employee will be part of the Deployment Pool and will be required to support deployments to various CONUS/OCONUS locations, as required. This position will require the member to be flexible in the support of assigned deployment/work schedules.

Employee will assemble, disassemble, renovate, transport, load, deactivate, modify, destroy, and handle munitions including missiles, precision, and gravity bombs. Work on the installation, configuration changes, modification, repair and adjustment of aircraft armament systems and components. Perform maintenance modifications, destruction, and demilitarization of ammunition and explosive components. Operate computer hardware and software utilities and manual records in order to perform stock control and accounting procedures. Inspect bomb release systems and missile launchers to determine need for repair or destruction in support of Reaper Series RPA maintenance.

Additionally, employee may conduct inspection, maintenance, and storage of munitions and support equipment. Support weapons loading and armament systems and related matters. Support quality assurance, compliance, continuity, and standardization of munitions programs. Attend weapons safety course, load certification and related activities. Provide technical inputs to managers in matters of weapons management, inventory, and maintenance, loading, and armament systems. Assist with availability and serviceability of munitions to support emerging customer requirements.

USAF equivalent position is Munitions/Weapons Technician Apprentice.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform basic work in the installation, configuration changes, modification, repair and adjustment of aircraft armament systems and components.
  • Perform basic maintenance modification, destruction and demilitarization on ammunition and explosive components.
  • Operate basic computer hardware and software/utilities and manual records in order to perform stock control and accounting procedures.

  • Support quality assurance, compliance, continuity, and standardization of munitions programs.
  • Provide technical inputs to management in matters of weapons management, inventory, maintenance, loading, and armament systems.
  • Maintain weapons certification and currency.
  • Assist with availability and serviceability of munitions to support and meet customer requirements.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have High School diploma or have completed relevant military and/or vocational technical school curriculum.
  • Minimum of one year of actual Aircraft Munitions/Weapons maintenance experience required.
  • Completed USAF Munitions/Weapons Tech School or DoD equivalent.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft maintenance.
  • Must be able to perform Increment Monitor duties to include but not limited to equipment/cargo preparation, documentation, pallet build-up, and hazardous cargo
  • Must be able to inspect and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.
  • Must achieve a passing grade in all required courses/certifications for continued employment, as needed.
  • Employee must meet all OCONUS deployment criteria, to include pre-deployment medical screening, as a condition of employment.
  • Must be able to Deploy to Forward Locations (other countries) as Directed by the Government.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and/or wear Military Issued Equipment in excess of 50 pounds for extended periods.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have had an Active Secret US Government Clearance within the last 12 months. Note: US citizenship is required to obtain a Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to maintain required DoD security clearance commensurate with the assigned duties during employment.
  • Must submit updated SF-86 within 30 days of hire start date.
  • Must have current/active State Issued Driver’s License.
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid flight-line Government Driver’s License.
  • Must have valid U.S. Passport with a minimum of two years remaining with at least two facing pairs (four total) of blank Visa pages.
  • Must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated with booster. Accommodations may be available under limited circumstances.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in a relevant career field.
  • RPA Deployment Experience.
  • Prior Experience as a Defense Contractor.
  • Munitions/Weapons experience within the last 10 years.
