Proficiency in MS Excel is essential, along with fluency in English. Additional languages like Arabic or French are a plus.

Job description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee payroll across all country offices of Direct Aid. The role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and a solid understanding of payroll procedures, accounting principles, and relevant labor and tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare, verify, and process monthly payroll for all employees in accordance with organizational policies and country-specific regulations.
  • Review attendance, overtime, deductions, and allowances to ensure payroll accuracy.
  • Coordinate with HR to maintain updated employee records, salary changes, and benefits information.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare related journal entries for the Finance Department.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements such as income tax, social security, and other employee contributions.
  • Generate and distribute payslips and ensure confidentiality of payroll information.
  • Prepare monthly payroll reports and assist with audits and financial reconciliations.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to continuously improve payroll systems and processes.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-country or NGO environment.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and payroll regulations.
  • High proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with payroll software or ERP systems.
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
  • Fluency in English (Arabic and French are a plus).
