Overview
We are looking for a talented and skilled Ladle Refining Furnace Operator to join our multicultural and diverse team in Kuwait. Perform day-to-day activities related to furnaces (LRF) operation including preparation and maintaining a safe working environment and reporting unsafe conditions. Perform related activities for process improvement as directed by immediate superior.
Responsibilities
- Attending toolbox meeting with his crew members, to address safe working practices, INIR’s, Hazard & Risk Identification’s, Ladder Safety, House Keeping and waste management.
- Ensure that all required tools and tackles and consumables are available near the shop floor for his shift as well as for reliever shift to avoid delays.
- Follow the shift relieving policy (handover & takeover of shift at work site) and ensure availability at the work site during working hours.
- Carry out pre-operation inspection / check list, equipment trials and report any abnormalities to immediate superior.
- Preparation includes taking trail movement of scrap & ladle transfer cars and preheater, scrap buckets, rail exchangers, purging lines.
- Perform visual inspection of shell bottom, temperature measurement, EBT flapper monitoring (during closing).
- Fire watch of surroundings during EAF process and tapping.
- Report to EAF SIC for material issuances as per stock availability at shop floor.
- Perform purging hose connections & disconnections; LF consumables, manual alloy addition arrangements at the working floor.
- Electrode preparation activities like nipple fixing and lifting spare electrode.
- Report to EAF/LRF SIC for material issuances as per stock availability at shop floor.
- Electrode changing, adjustment & preparation and seek assistance from EAF / LF supervisor.
- Clean rail tracks, scrap car, and scrap charging area, tapping pit trench, electrode stands, and walkways.
- Assist LF lead operator for cleaning of car tracks, material area, trench and roof.
- Perform activities like gunning, fettling, cold ramming, EBT re-piping, EBT changing, end brick changing, lining repairs and door electrode changing with refractory team.
Requirements
- Diploma in Metallurgy or higher
- Minimum 4 years of experience in LRF Operation in a Steel Melting Plant.
