Job summary

V2X is seeking a Fire Prevention Specialist located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP. The role involves planning, organizing, and conducting fire prevention activities including inspections, plan reviews, training, and system acceptance inspections.

The candidate will work under the Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention, ensuring compliance with DoD regulations and NFPA standards, and will participate in environmental safety programs while supporting long-range protection goals.

Qualifications

  • Education/Certifications: One year related experience may substitute for education.
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Five years of fire prevention experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science is preferred.
  • Must hold NFPA/DoD certifications (Fire Inspector II, etc.) as required by DoD.
  • Must pass physical exam, background check and possess a valid U.S. passport.
  • U.S. Citizenship and Secret Clearance eligibility required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections and maintains documentation of all facility fire inspections.
  • Performs plan reviews to ensure fire protection systems comply with policies and UFC guidance.
  • Participates in and maintains the fire extinguisher exchange program for facilities.
  • Provides Facility Manager and Fire Warden training.
  • Works with DPW on final acceptance inspections for new construction and renovations.
  • Maintains documentation on inspection and testing of wet pipe sprinkler systems.
  • Participates in Environmental Safety and Health programs.
  • Assists in formulating long-range goals related to protection of personnel, facilities, and equipment.

Industry Fire Protection and HVAC Engineering

Overview ***This position is physically located in Kuwait in support of LOGCAP*** Under the supervision of the Assistant Chief of Fire Prevention, Lead, plans, organizes, and conducts fire prevention activities throughout to include fire inspections, fire investigations, public education, plan reviews, and fire protection system acceptance inspections. Assist implements and manages the Fire Prevention Program to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement, Army Regulation 420-1, DOD Manual 6055.06, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), policies, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts inspections and maintains documentation of all facility fire inspections.
  • Performs plan reviews to ensure fire protection systems are IAW with policies and UFC’s guidance.
  • Participates and maintains the fire extinguisher exchange program for facilities.
  • Conducts Facility Manager, Fire Warden and other fire prevention training.
  • Works with DPW, conducts final acceptance inspections on new construction, and renovation projects.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation on the inspection and testing of wet pipe sprinkler systems.
  • Participate in Environmental Safety and Health (ESH) programs.
  • Helps formulate long range goals related protection of personnel, facilities, materials, and equipment.
  • Assists with fire investigations as required under AR 420-1 specifications.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • High School Diploma
  • Five (5) years of fire prevention experience.
  • Combination of education from an accredited college or university in Fire Service and Fire Service experience totaling at least Two (2) years may substitute for the two (2) years fire prevention experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science preferred.
  • Must hold the required certifications IAW DOD Manual 6055.06 as well as be IFSAC, Pro-Board or hold other certification acceptable to DoD and certified to the following levels:
  • 1. Fire Inspector II
  • 2. Fire Investigator (Preferred)
  • 3. Public Fire and Life Safety Educator
  • 4. HazMat Awareness
  • Must pass physical exam, federal background check and possess a current, valid U.S. passport.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain valid Secret Clearance
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License is required.
Experience
  • Required: 5 years of related work experience.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Fire Inspector, as a Fire Prevention Specialist, US Military, DOD, or civilian
  • Highly Desirable: Certifications as a Plans Examiner.
Skills
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Must possess strong written and spoken communication skills and general word processing and computer skills.
  • Must have knowledge of occupancy classification types, the fire hazards present in various occupancies, and the occupant load factors relating to various occupancy classifications.
  • Knowledge of fire department mission and organization; safety requirements and objectives; fire alarm and communications; fire behavior; portable fire extinguishers; personal protective clothing and equipment, water supplies and sprinklers; hazardous materials; fire prevention and public fire education; and fire cause determination
Working Conditions

The worker is subject to extreme cold. Temperatures typically below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
The worker is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions, such as wind and humidity.
The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

Physical Requirements

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
