Responsibilities
  • Responsible for creating a positive educational climate for students to learn and instructing students in grades K-3. Create lesson plans, administer assessments, provide praise and constructive criticism, and teach subjects such as language arts, science, social studies, civics, literature, and math.
  • Plan, conduct, and assess activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstrations, and work time; provide opportunities for observation, questioning, investigation, and development of learning in a dynamic environment.
  • Develop, create, and adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying student needs and interests.
  • Meet course and school-wide student performance goals; create interactive and dynamic lesson plans and adjust them throughout the year according to pacing.
  • Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans and implement the school’s curriculum with consideration for diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Manage student behavior using approved disciplinary procedures; establish and enforce classroom rules for order.
  • Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health; instruct students individually and in groups using various methods (lectures, discussions, demonstrations).
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, communicate them to students, and assess progress; collaborate with parents/guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to address behavioral and academic issues.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including grading, portfolios, and other required documentation; prepare students for later grades and encourage perseverance with challenging tasks.
  • Provide a variety of materials and resources for exploration, manipulation, and imaginative play; prepare for classes and document preparation when required.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of elementary school programs; supervise and plan for teacher assistants.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment to prevent injuries or damage; organize and lead activities that promote physical, mental, and social development.
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence; plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and visits by guest speakers.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required; administer standardized tests and interpret results to identify student strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Select, store, order, issue, and inventory classroom equipment, materials, and supplies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of teaching experience.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written); ability to use initiative and independent judgment; data analysis for informed decision-making; ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines; awareness of current topics in education; ability to assess and prioritize tasks; ability to establish effective working relationships with colleagues, leadership, and stakeholders.
