Job summary

A multinational service provider in Kuwait is seeking skilled Linguists to provide vital interpretation, transcription, and translation services. Candidates must have a deep proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic and English, with extensive knowledge of Arabic culture. Responsibilities include translating colloquial expressions, providing cultural advice, and conducting translations in challenging environments. This role may require TS/SCI clearance and great attention to physical demands in austere conditions.

Qualifications

• Must have a proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic and English speaking and writing Level 3/3 of ILR.
• Extensive knowledge of Arabic culture with previous work in the region preferable.
• Experience interpreting and translating Modern Standard Arabic into English.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate translation, transcription, and interpretation in Modern Standard Arabic.
• Translate colloquial phrases and expressions.
• Provide advice on cultural significance of conversations.
• Provide cultural and ethnic insights related to statements, conversations, and documents
• Scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents
• Handle other related tasks as assigned

Overview

Valiant is seeking skilled Linguists to provide interpretation, transcription, and translation services in support of ongoing and new U.S operations and mission requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct accurate and consecutive translation, transcription, and interpretation in Modern Standard Arabic into English
• Translate various syntax and expressions to include colloquial and slang phrases from English and Modern Standard Arabic and vice versa
• Work and travel in austere environments
• Provide advice on cultural and ethnic significance of statements, conversations, situations, and documents
• Accurately scan, research, and analyze foreign language documents
• Other related tasks as assigned

Position Requirements

• Must have a proficiency in Modern Standard Arabic and English speaking and writing Level 3/3 of Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) - Native proficiency preferred
• Extensive knowledge of Arabic culture with previous work in the region - Native familiarity preferred
• Experience interpreting and translating Modern Standard Arabic into English
• Ability to understand the essentials of all speech in standard dialect and vocabulary rarely requiring the need for paraphrasing or explanation
• Familiarity with the local culture and customs with the ability to operate within the local populace
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Clearance Required: TS/SCI

Physical Requirements

• Physical requirements may include, but are not limited to, lifting, ascending, and descending stairs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, to various degrees. Outside working conditions include potential exposure to extreme high temperatures, dry and dusty conditions, and uneven walking surfaces.
