Job summary

Guitar Center Stores, Inc. is seeking a lead FP&A analyst to analyze business results and deliver insights into key segments. The role partners with Accounting on month-end close, develops narratives for leadership, and supports the board with financial commentary.

The position requires 4+ years in finance, strong Excel, SQL/Tableau skills, and experience with large data sets in a retail environment. Flexible hybrid work with in-person HQ presence in Westlake Village.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of equivalent work experience, preferably in Finance, Business, or related field.
4 years of relevant work experience, preferably within a retail or ecommerce environment.
Detail oriented while independently leading/executing multiple assignments under tight timelines.
SQL or Tableau experience is a major plus.
Experience with large data sets and ability to turn around work quickly; customer service oriented.
Basic accounting knowledge: accruals, GL, capitalizations, amortizations, etc.
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to structure issues and recommend resolutions.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel; proficient with financial planning tools and PeopleSoft.

Responsibilities

Partner with Accounting during month-end close to validate financial results and reconcile reports.
Develop narratives and talking points translating financial data for leadership and board.
Engage with business partners to gather context on performance drivers and variances.
Perform variance analysis against forecast, budget, and prior year; track expenses with department leaders.
Maintain and enhance financial models and monthly/forecasting templates.
Create and update board quality decks and executive summaries with key driver analysis.
