Pier 360 began in 1995 as a mental health support and advocacy nonprofit organization run by individuals with lived experience. In the 2000's it expanded to include mental health and/or substance use recovery, and all employees of the organization self-identify as being in recovery. Pier 360 (formerly CVAB) is a peer-run organization encouraging self-determination and self-sufficiency for people in mental health and substance use recovery. The Sports and Recreation Coordinator performs a wide range of tasks to support people living their lives and directing their recovery, healing, and wellness.
