A technology solutions provider in Ispra, Italy is seeking a Web GIS Developer to enhance climate monitoring systems. The successful candidate will develop web interfaces, oversee application installations, and prepare documentation and training materials. Applicants should have a Master’s degree, 5+ years of experience, and strong skills in ExtJS, PostgreSQL, and GIS technologies. Proficiency in English is necessary. At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for a professional Web GIS Developer to join our UniQue Ispra team. The overall goal is to provide technical support to the European Institution in the continuous development of database and front-end components for the climate monitoring systems. The role includes maintaining and enhancing the web platforms hosted by the European Institution to provide online access to these tools for international user communities.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our customers in the public sector and you will be responsible for developing new business by identifying profitable opportunities, maintaining your client portfolio by building strong, long-lasting relationships, and monitoring the progress of the projects, with the aim to provide excellent client service and added value services.

What will you be bringing to the team?
  • Develop and maintain web-based interfaces for the eStation 3.0 and Climate Station, based on user community requirements.
  • Prepare installation and upgrade packages for applications, including database updates, and validate their functionality.
  • Create and update user documentation, including GUI descriptions and manuals.
  • Support preparation of training materials for web interfaces, including screenshots, diagrams, tutorials, and videos; provide user support and conduct training sessions as needed.
  • Maintain and update the dedicated eStation website, including content publication.
  • Oversee installation and maintenance of applications on development and production servers, including web clients.
What do you need to succeed in this position?
  • Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with ExtJS and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong knowledge of web application development, application design, and GIS technologies.
  • Experience with DBMS administration and development (PostgreSQL/PostGIS).
  • Proficient in Web GIS tools (OpenLayers, Leaflet), GIS servers (MapServer, GeoServer), OGC web services (WMS, WCS, WPS), and front-end technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, Drupal, PHP).
  • Basic knowledge of Earth Observation data processing, GDAL, Google Earth Engine, and Python.
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems and containerized applications (Docker).
  • Experience with code testing frameworks, IDEs, and version control (Git/GitHub) is a plus.
  • Strong presentation and training skills are an asset.
  • Proficient in English (B1 level or higher).
